I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not, but I'd appreciate any help I can get.

I had been having a few problems with the graphics on my laptop (Compaq Presario 2100), and in my infinite wisdom while fooling around with the settings, I disabled the display driver. Basically now, after the Windows XP logo shows while booting, the screen goes black.

I've tried going the F8 route during bootup, but none of the modes work (enable VGA, safe mode, last known good configuration, etc). I've tried booting up with the XP cd, and that doesn't work either.

Any suggestions as to how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. I'm not the most computer savvy, so I may need a little explanation on some of the steps. Thank you. 🙂

How do I do that if I can't see anything?

Where were you fooling around with the settings? In Windows or in the BIOS?

can you hit del while it's booting and choose to boot windows in safe mode?

Fixed it (for now). Thank you all for the advice.
