Hi everyone,
A couple of quick questions about the levels of TEE certification that are available:
Is this Basic PTEeXAM certification a new option for graduating anesthesiology residents? According to the website you need 150 supervised TEE exams total(50 of which you personally perform) and you need to pass the written Advanced PTEeXAM to receive basic PTeEXAM certification. According to the echoboards site it would appear as though the quoted 150 TEE exams can be obtained during your core residency.
If the above is true, then isn't this a nice alternative to being required to do a 1-yr ACGME cardiac fellowship to get echo certified?
At the very least it would allow you to consider non-acgme cardiac fellowships knowing that you could still obtain TEE certification. Albeit, you would still need an acgme fellowship to get the advanced PTeEXAM certification.
