I may be in a bit of a unique scenario based on how the timing of my rotations and projects have worked out where I can "graduate" and have MD title 6-9 months before starting residency. Not interested in looking for a rolling admissions residency, if any such even exit, will wait for the match.

Anyways, I'm curious if anyone has any ideas as to jobs to seek out. Loans will come into repayment before residency starts, and I would like to earn enough to pay off the interest that has accrued over the past 4 years before it capitalizes. However, I'm not interested in starting a career outside of clinical medicine, just a job to earn money for a number of months.

So, any recommendations? I've thought of being a scribe / translator / etc, but I wonder if there is something that requires the higher level of training of the MD degree, and that would subsequently earn more money.

Thanks!

Call hospitals and research labs to see if there is part-time work you can be involved with. Get your phelbotomy certificate and work as a vampire? See if you can do some general office work? Study for Step 3......

Tutor people for the MCAT, Step 1, Step 2, etc? Work as a standardized pt?

Work in a research lab?

I don't think many "higher paying MD jobs" are going to want to hire someone who has to quit in 6 months.

Medical director for a plasma center. It pays well. It's a figurehead position. Need to take their training course but you would be certified as a medical director for later jobs. It's super easy.

Also check with your Dean as to when you will officially graduate (e.g. get the sheepskin)... even if you're done early, you may not go into repayment until your school officially mints you as an MD.

In addition to above, also look into getting your ACLS/PALS instructor card and teach the classes. Will help you remember it, and hospitals/schools/etc always have a need.

you can work for insurance companies as medical chart analyst

@cabinbuilder for medical director job at plasma center do they require any other degree like in mba or just there training course is enough

How about a clinical tutor for your med school, if your school has those? At mine, we had clinical tutors in anatomy, histo, and path labs. They were just doing it until they matched into a residency.
