Anyone have any idea how many people actually get a 3.5 in the temple acms program??? Is this feasible? I'm currently applying to well known SMPs (Gtown, Cincy, BU for instance), but Temple ACMS is another that I'm considering because of the guarantee (I already have a 30 on the MCAT). Any advice or insight into the Temple program would be much appreciated!

I completed Temple's post bac program 10 years ago with a 4.0. Don't know if my experiences are now out of date but I'll try to help.

Edit: After doing a quick search of Temple website it looks like I completed the BCMS program (back then this was the only option). Still will answer what I can. One more thing, I went to med school with the 2 former students pretending to be interested in reading peds xrays with Dr. Kochan in the middle panel of the post bac intro page. The guy is now a Cards fellow at Hahnemann (where I did my residency)!

I called them today and asked about the program. Last year they went 15 for 15 with their students... they may expand the program up to 20 students for the upcoming entering class.

Not saying they weren't 15 for 15 but take any numbers you get from a program with a pinch of salt. you dont know the tmelines, which schools, etc etc

Apparently in the temple program you're not allowed to apply to other med schools (at least the year you're in the program, I suppose if you didn't meet their guarentee stats you could finish the program and apply elsewhere, although this is far from ideal), so 15 for 15 would mean that all of the students in the program met the 3.5 and got a 30 and therefore are continuing on to Temple's med school this fall. I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I am in the ACMS program now. Last year was the first year of the program, and most or all of those students are currently first years. This year there are 25 of us, and again, most if not all of us are doing well. They are committing a spot to you, it's not like they are trying to not let you in. They expect most of us to be there next year.

How competative is it to get in? Because I'm currently very interested in the program.

I don't know any numbers for this year. Last year, I think they had about 600 apps, but I don't know if that was just for the 25 ACMS slots or also the 20 BCMS.

oh. how bout stat wise? I feel like since this program ensures admission upon completing the required conditions, it would mean that people who attend are somewhat below the competitive average for med school, correct?

I don't know everyone's specifics, but a lot of people have pretty impressive stats. More than half of us have over 30 on the MCAT, and several are around 33s or higher. I know a few people have 3.8s or higher too. I don't know anyone else's entire profile, but I would guess we all have at least weak area.
