I emailed all of the schools I applied to that listed their chem requirement as "Inorganic" vs. "General". All of the schools (10) stated that "General" was acceptable or that it was the same thing. I realize that they are two separate classes at some or all(?) undergrad schools, but Temple is the only school that told me "General" chemistry does NOT fulfill the requirement for "Inorganic" chem.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

I thought it was weird also, considering I got 10 other replies that said it's the same or acceptable. I wonder if they misunderstood my question. Here is the email I sent and their reply:

No it's not.

Is "General Chemistry" considered the same as Inorganic Chemistry? I took
two semesters of "General Chemistry" before taking organic and want to make
sure this is what you intend for the chemistry requirement.

Thank you,
Lisa

hey lisa,
I think that Temple just misunderstood your question- i have a friend from school who is going there in the fall and our year of inorganic is also called "intro to general chemistry"
hope that helps!

As dumb as it sounds, inorganic chemistry is an actual course, but by pre-requisite standards when they say inorganic chemistry they are referring to "non organic chemistry" and not the actual class. A bit confusing, I know, but nearly all medical schools do NOT require inorganic chemistry the actual course to be taken but instead general chemistry. Hope this helps you out!

I think you will be fine. Well - I hope so, since I got in there and had gen chem, orgo ect, biochem, ect. LOL. I mean - inorganic wasn't even offered at my undergrad. I did take analytical though, and instrumentation. Temple is weird. The support staff is really grouchy. They prob misunderstopod you. I got invited to interview there without them even having sent me a secondary. Then they were pissed my secondary was late. Who knows.
