For those of you that already interviewed at Temple, which hotel did you stay at and would you recommend it? Which hotel is the closest to the school? Thanks!

I stayed at the microtel inn that is right near the airport. I would NOT suggest it. It looks nice on the outside but the place is pretty dumpy. There is a cluster of airport hotels and they are all about 25 minutes from the school. Beware though, I felt as though Philly was pretty tough to navigate if you've never driven there before.

I stayed at the closest hotel that Temple recommended, 2 miles from the dental school. The Conwell Inn is really nice, but it's a little pricey even w/ the Temple discount ($150+). Also, there is no main street to get to it because it is inside Temple's main campus. Other than that I really liked it. It included a continental breakfast and cookies at 3-6pm.

I stayed at the Best Western which was too far away but I needed to take a taxi (I'm sure I could have taken the subway but I didn't want to risk it). A taxi cost be about $12 from the hotel to the school. It wasn't the best hotel I stayed at but it wasn't bad and I was only there for about 10 hours to sleep. It's right next to a WaWa and police station which was nice for a quick dinner 🙂

Conwell Inn is nice if you don't mind the price.

I just booked my flight and hotel at $301 from FL! The hotel is the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown. According to their website is like 20 mins in public transportation!

When is your interview?

thanks for the advice guys. yea i've called all the hotels that temple suggested and the lowest price i got was $115. :x I don't really care about the quality of the hotel since i'll be only there to sleep lol. The ideal hotel I would want to stay at is walking distance away from the school, but that doesn't seem to be realistic.

My interview is on Nov. 19th. Temple is forsure one of my top choices so I'm getting nervous :scared:

Just stay somewhere cheap and take a taxi. More than likely if you travel light you can group up and take a taxi back to the airport after your interview. Don't forget to send the email!

I stayed at the hampton inn philadelphia convention center... if you ask for the interview rate, you can get it fro $80/night... free continental breakfast and wireless internet! About a $8 taxi ride to the school, really nice hotel! it made me feel fancy 🙂

Microtel for sure! I thought it was great quality for the price. I stayed in a suite for a real low price and the hotel is conveniently located across the street from the train station.

nice thanks!

also, has anyone stayed at the apple hostel?

**** for $100 bucks, i'll pick you up at the airport, let you sleep on my couch, take you to your interview, and take you back to the airport after your interview:

my place isnt the nicest, but it does have a 40" lcd tv hooked up to satelite tv, xbox360 with 20+ newest games, etc and in a safe neighborhood 4 miles from Temple 😉

Email = After the interview, if you are sincerely interested in coming, Make sure to follow up and email/write letter to Brian Hahn.

Not necessarily. He will say something about it at interview, but basically if you assure him after interview that you would attend if admitted he will go to bat for you with ADCOM and your chances of acceptance are very high.

Last year I believe they admitted 80-90% of those who interviewed before Dec 1.

Yea he said some crazy number like 210/220, but i wasnt sure if i misheard him...I didnt send him an email after cuz i couldnt find his email address, hope it doesnt hurt my chances.

i stayed at the crowne plaza downtown, it ended up being like 100 dollars because i booked it through hotwire (3.5 stars). it was nice, good location, free internet access in the room, and they give you an eye mask and lavender spray haha. i left my luggage there and picked it up after i roamed around the city. took a cab to the school for like 12 dollars for the interview but i think that public transportation is close too.

You heard correctly. I recommend either calling the Admissions dept and getting his email or talking directly with him. Especially since you are closing in on the Dec 1 mark. It's worth it if you are interested in attending Temple.

Once again, thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up staying at microtel by the airport. Pretty good place to stay if you want a cheaper place. Only complaint is that it had thin walls but no biggie. It took around 25 min to get to Temple via the subway.

temple definitely made a good impression!

It was really chill. The interview lasted about 15-20 min and was more of a conversation. Two fourth year students interviewed me at the same time and they were really nice. Like everyone has been saying, just be yourself!

Does everyone get interviewed by fourth year students + committee member?
