Temple Interview Pool???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For anybody that has interviewed at Temple, did they tell you many applicants they anticipate interviewing?

Thanks in advance!

I recall Brian saying they are interviewing less than 500 people this year.

Brian said last year it was 474, and this year he plans to interview 400

Thanks for the info! Any word on how many of those 400 potential interview invites have already been given?

brian said 400 interviews, and he has gone through 14 groups - each group had about 13-14 people so about 200 are done.

Thanks for the info! Does Brian conduct the interviews himself?

WHAT ???????????? Already? only 200 spots are left........... sigh........

Does anyone know how many offers temple will give out? Ive some other rumors from people at other interviews...something along the line of 250 interviews and 230 offers given out.....didnt really believe it...sounded to good to be true.

they started the interviews at the beginning of October.
there has been like 2-3 groups per week since then.
Brian does not do the interviews, thats what the faculty are for, he just organizes everything.

There have already been quite a few hot girls 😍 come though, I am rooting them them to get in.
last year interviews went though february or something like that.

the applicant pool at temple has been improving every year.

I heard that at the temple interview they do a couple of things that seem to be engineered specifically to throw the prospective students off their game. One of which I've actually heard was supposed to be a guy who comes in with jeans and acts kind of erratic. From what I've been told his name was Brian. Is any of this true?

He doesnt come in in jeans, but his name is brian. He is a really nice guy though and does a great job selling the school. It wasnt a school I really thought i would go to, but after the presentation and lunch and all the interaction with the students, I would not make it a top choice, but I can definitely see myself happy there.

I've heard something similar. I've heard that by Dec 1 they will have interviewed ~250 and will accept 200 applicants. It does sound too good to be true, but I hope it's true!

Brian is awesome! I was very impressed with his honesty and sense of humor when I interviewed in october. I really hope i get in to this school, even though I was a little disappointed with my interview performance.

What date were you there??

Ahh I was there the 30th.

When I interviewed, Brian said they will interview ~230 by Dec 1st and 210 acceptance letters will be mailed out.. thats about 90% chance of getting in.. the school is really great! and one of the reason is because of its location in Philly.. Temple = clinical skillz = sick!!!

Who interviewed there Oct 29th?? Great group 🙂

Did Brian tell you to send him an email if you were still interested after the interview? Did anyone do that and did he respond? Some kid tried to tell me if you did that, then you're basically in. I think thats prolly bull.

I really liked temple, friendly people, great interview experience..it was actually fun, great clinicals, renovations by the time we get into clinics.

.

that's bs. what kind of dental school accepts students on emails saying how much they want to be there..? anyway, brian just makes the interviews, the committee selects the class. if you had an interview there, you have a pretty good shot anyway. just people trying to make the days until december interesting..

does anyone know what my chances are of getting an interview at Temple BU, or even Tufts? I applied really late in October. For some reason, I got an interview at Louisville only after one month of sending in my application.
My undergrad gpa was a 3.35 gpa, 3.25 sci/gpa with a degree in biochemistry and attended the college Barrack Obama went for 2 years. The science program is pretty tough so that explains why my GPA isn't too high. My DAT scores for a first shot were 20AA/20TS/19PAT with only 3 weeks of studying. I wish I could have spent more time studying for the exam but I decided in the last minute to take the exam and apply for the incoming 2009 class. I realized with the way the economy is headed, getting into dental or any professional school will be even harder next year.

actually a lot of the schools that i interviewed at told me to email them after my interview and tell them what i thought about the school. its actually good that u email them so they remember ur name

With all this talk about Brian and such... I had a question...

When you call the main admissions line a really nice gentleman answers the phone. He didn't mention his name, only "Hello, admissions office" (or something to that effect). Does anyone know who this is?

Just wondering because he is always like very nice when I call to check up on the status of my documents or... like I did today, update my address.

Thats probably Brian, although I am not 100% sure. There is another guy in admiossions there that is vwery nice as well.

brian wants you to email him so that he knows you are still interested. lots of kids lose interest in certain schools during the application cycle and its a waste of time for schools to offer acceptances to those who will ultimately decline anyway.

emailing won't guarantee you a spot, but it sure helps.
