I know that this is cross posted and Dr. Mom will probably close this, but Temple is back in the good graces of the LCME. I know that you guys don't get over to the pre allo section so I thought I would let you know!

:hardy: grats!

didn't i just see this in pre-allo? <looks back>

you and JM are spreading the Temple luv!

So, it's still in North Philly.

Which I view a strong point.

Um, no one's forcing you to go there. I doubt you'd fit in anyway, so just as well...but not everyone lives in fear of being mugged. 🙄

Probably my favorite thing about Temple IS that it isn't for everyone. Makes me appreciate the people who are there even more.

i know. thank god i picked temple over friggin iowa.

great to see the TUSM crew reprezentn'

You Temple guys amuse me. I'm glad that you're proud. Having access to a teaching hospital makes your program quite strong. So, I agree. But your neighborhood is more than sketchy. It's bad.

I grew up in NYC, so it's not that I don't know bad neighborhoods, but North Philly is tough. Also, your facilities are not so great, your gross lab is actually gross.

And I wouldn't knock Iowa. Different schools have different missions.

Lets be honest, if you got into a school in NYC, LA or Boston, you'd have gone. Philly is a city that sucks. Cheese steaks, fat people, and South Street. I can't wait to visit Philly. Soft pretzels? Come on.

You guys remind me of new meat in prison. You've got yourselves convinced that those nightly visits from Bubba is love.

You're still here?

who me? Okay, I'm done messing you guys. In truth, one of my close friends is at Temple. He really likes it there.

So what do you Temple students think this will mean so far as how your residency placement will go? Anything?

Nothing, as the medical education quality of the school was never in doubt and actually commended.

I don't understand your question. It makes sense to ask this if Temple were on probation or had lost its accreditation. But since we remain fully accredited, nothing has changed with regards to residency placement.

i always interpreted temple as being underrated, b/c it apparently does a really good job with students in the clinical years.

The probation had basically no effect on students' applications for residencies this year. (Not one interviewer even mentioned accreditation while I was on the trail.) So, obviously when you are applying for residency 4 years from now, the probation will be long forgotten.

Well Temple certainly has a better reputation than certain med schools whose administration (and even ownership) changes every couple of years as the school runs out of money...
