Hey guys and gals,

Since we got a few other threads going for other schools, figured I post one for us Temple Dental folk. Just wondering how many of you are going to Philly (Temple) next year... shout out if you are!!

I figured it would be a nice touch to know each others first name too... Cant wait to meet ya'll!

Vic,

Congrats on Temple! Although I'll be going to Penn, I just wanted to extend my best to you and all you guys (and beautiful gals:-D). Since we will be living in Philly, the city of Brotherly love, I hope we can all get together, and if you guys need something (compare notes) don't hesitate, we're not far from ya!

Again congrats on Temple, its a great school, and in a GREAT town!

Vic,

I'll be at Temple with ya! I can't wait to get up there.

Hello fellow temple classmates,

My name is Chia and just wanted to let you know that I'll be attending temple in august as well 🙂 By the way, where are you guys living in?

Hey fellow Owls!
I will be at Temple in the fall, too. I am torn between Summit and this big apartment I found. I heard both AMAZING things about Summit, but also some not so great things (
http://bayarea.apartment-ratings.com/rate/v/215482078819128/summit_club_at_summit_park_e.html ). It seems like a lot of people are living here, though. I was thinking of just coming over to the Summit for study groups and parties, then going to the suburbs to live. I'm from the area and living in Philly gets old quickly (I've been in West Philly for 5 years). It's nice to live close enough to go and hang out. It's a great 2BR/2Bath apartment for $600/month ($300 each) in a nice area near the train into the city, if anyone is interested. I didn't sign a lease yet, but I think it's available in August. It's cheap enough for me to rent by myself, but a roommate splitting the costs and carpooling would be great. If this sounds like something you're interested in, let me know. [email protected] Just another option... Also, if you have any questions that I can answer, let me know. I know the area pretty well.

Im thinking of Summit for my first few months, since it seems to be tried tested and true... Once I get to know the surrounding areas a little better, I'll move into something bigger and get a roommate.

Are any of you bringing a car or plan to get a car in Philly?? Im looking at insurance rates right now... and they scare me! I definitely want a car for atleast my first year... so I can get to know the city quicker. I cant be without driving for more than a couple of days either... I go crazy. 😛

I'm bringing a car. Like you the rates of insurance scare me. I pay 253 every 6 months here in Atlanta and the cheapest I could find in Philly was more than double that. I can't imagine life without a car though.

I lived in Philly without a car for two years. It is do-able. It can be pain, though. I would just make sure your roommate has a car (and make friends with those who have a car). Insurance is crazy. I still use my parents? address, which is 15 mins outside the city. So that saves me a bundle. That?s another reason I?m getting out of the city. I?d rather have a 15 minute commute to the school than deal with city insurance rates. Also, expect some damages to your car. I bought a brand new car 3 years ago and it has so many dents and scratches just from parking in the city. People don?t really care about other peoples cars.

Yeah, the Summit sounds like a safe bet. How long are the leases for? Can you just go for a few months?

My car is a POS that has been parked downtown Atlanta for 4 years so I don't think that another dent or 20 is oging to hurt it. I am thinking about using my parents address for my car. They are moving to Reading which I guess is like an hour away. The guy at the insurance company told me that depending where exactly they buy a house it could be really cheap. SOmething about amish people and cows not posing a threat.

Summit leases are a year I believe. I am moving there and should know but I am only like 75% sure on that. You can call them at 2154820788. If you don't decide to move in there you can always come over and party with us 🙂

dents and scratches??? Oh i definitely dont like the sound of that... not on my baby...

Yeah im ona those... 😉

I think im also at the point where ill commit to summit, for the first year atleast.

Commuting to school everday, it's: my car vs. those big stone chips that fly out of now where and attack!

My C-rolla can't take this abuse!!!

It's not only rocks that damage your car its thoughtless Philadelphians (excluding me, of course!) I hear that Summit has a lot of car thefts and break ins. (See http://bayarea.apartment-ratings.com/rate/v/215482078819128/summit_club_at_summit_park_e.html ) I would have to talk to some more people to verify this.

You also have to remember your interviews. Temple wasn't in the best neighborhood in the city (actually on of the worst). they do have a great security and police force on campus, but you have to think that these people don't really have a lot of respect for other peoples cars (especially if they're driving uninsured POS's)

just wanted to let y'all know that mark lombard will not be with us anylonger...he is leaving temple so if you wish to tell him goodbye...then you should! ...it's a sad sad day to see him go...🙁

Cusp,

REally????? that sucks 🙁 why is he leaving temple?

I also heard he was leaving. I think Temple is losing a great asset to thier dental school.

It's so sad to see Mark Lombard leaves. A big shock. Only hope that UCSF can afford him. He is a great asset to any school that will be lucky enough to have him.

Does anyone know why Mark is leaving or what his plans are from here?
I emailed him to wish him goodbye and good luck. He said he's moving to Dallas. No specifics though.

That really sucks... 🙁

However i wish him the best of luck wherever he decides to go!
