for the video clip, do they expect you to go in and say everything you want in one take? or if you mess up or blank out for a second, can you restart the taping again?

also are you allowed to have anything written in front of you or no?

I had my interview Nov 3 and it was extremely laid back, you can do whatever you want during the video clip, just show them your personality. Brian is a funny guy and very amicable, you will walk around the clinic and he will be high fiving and saying hi to all the students. Towards the end, you will all be doing your writing sample and 1 by 1 enter a room where a girl will videotape you. Dont sweat it, but I wouldn't read from flashcards the whole video. All I did was speak about myself for about 3 minutes and 20 seconds, on the spot, its not really that hard once you get going. An outline of really important points that you want to hit might do good though. Brian told us that 1 minute is fine, 2 is fine, 4 is fine, etc. Brian told us that some people have restarted, its really not a big deal! I think the record was somewhere around 3 minutes and 40 seconds. Honestly, the whole day was really laid back just enjoy it.

you cannot stop if you mess up. To help you feel better, there is really no way to mess up because, you go in front of a camera and introduce your personality..... messing this up is similar to messing up your first name, its just not possible lol

I would not recommend doing the flash card / have anything written cause that doesn't really describe your personality. Your just gonna go up there and present something you've pre-worked out.

You have from zero seconds to 5 minutes to do the video thing. They will NOT let you go past 5 minutes, but no one from my group had that problem since most of us finished before 5 minutes were up. Mine was like 3 minutes and 12 seconds-ish.

The essay is just a simple question, nothing to worry about. Brian said he changes the question every time but it is just an easy question.
During the presentation, Brian will go around and ask you to introduce yourself, and then will ask you a question.
During the video, dont worry, you should have enough time to summarize who you are, and why you are there. Good luck 😛

hey guys

yeah everyones right about the interview. it's very very relaxed and brian is super friendly. the students were also really friendly and helpful. very chill interview day. video went alright (felt a little weird talking to a camera, but theres nothing i can do about that) and the writing sample is super simple, so definitely do not worry about that.

Hey Everyone,

I interviewed at Temple Dental School two days ago. For the interview, they put each of us in a room with a video camera and we had up to 4 minutes to speak. The prompt was something like: Explain your interest in dentistry and why we should accept you to Temple. I knew about the video interview in advance so I prepared a 4 minute speech and rehearsed it many times. Brian seemed impressed by my preparation and said I was the first person all year to come in with a well-rehearsed 4 minute speech. When I got home, I videotaped myself giving the speech and put it onto YouTube. Feel free to use it as a reference for preparing your own speeches.
