I'm having some difficulty deciding between the schools and I'm going to shoot out some options I have about each. I would love to get some feedback and opinions from others, regardless of what it may be.
Temple
- great clinical experience
- good class size (139)
- nice facilities
- dental building is situated so that you interact with other health professions by sharing common buildings
- high crime rate in city, but I have heard people fall in love with Philly after living there
- cost: $359,735
NYU
- good clinic
- i haven't visited so i can't comment on the facilities
- bad class size (387)
- cost:$436,993
UDM
- good class size 144
- dental building is isolated from campus and other health professional building (good and bad thing)
- nice facilities
- I'm Canadian so this is close to home, and there is a lot of support for Canadian students
- high crime rate in city, but have also heard good things about living in Detroit and experiencing midtown
- cost: $360,388
Total costs were obtained form ADEA's Guide 2015/2016
I would like to receive a great clinical experience, I'm less interested in doing research and I want to keep the option to specialize open. I also want to get the most enjoyment out of the next four years as possible, so the city I'm in is a major factor. At the same time, I don't want to break the bank even more by living in NYU if it isn't worth it.
ps. I haven't been accepted at NYU, but I'm considering on cancelling my interview there which is in 3 weeks
