Hey i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what they have hard bad or good about either schools. I want to know how they treat their students, how well prepared they are for their boards, and which one would you recommend. 😀

Hey there....
Well I can tell you alot about both places. I go to Temple and my g/f goes to Pitt. I will speak for Temple. I have too many patients right now (20+) after 3 months in clinic. We see tons of patients with tons of crap going on in their mouth and systemically..hence you see alot and can do alot. Some profs don't really like to teach a ton and just think you should know what to do, but you learn to find the ones you work with best and learn the most from....alot of it is matching personalities. The first 2 years got more difficult as time progressed and now things are easier in my 3rd year. I have learned a ton and was well prepared for boards (Scored in the 90's) I will anwser any direct questions for you you want, just ask....I could ramble all day about things, so just ask. Pitt has a great looking school, but you will not find the masses of patients we have here that need work. Good luck, look foward to hearing back from you

HEy Temple 2006 and Toothcaries,
I really appreciate you guys takin time to answer my question...
This question is for Temple 2006. The question is, your first 2 years, how were the classes structures in particular, with head and neck anatomy, how much time did the teachers spend on it? I also wanted to know if you feel like you misded out by not having the technological things schools like pitt and case have, for example the "dentSims". Also i hear so many bad thinks about the school, like how bad the area is, wish really doesnt bother me because im from that area. what i want to know is have you had any problems and do they provide housing for student?

Thanks again everyone 😀

I am a firm believer in you get out what you put in. I put in the time to study the material I was given and read most of the assignments we had to do in the first 2 years. I loved anatomy, it is very independent, so if you try and wait till the end of the semester to study, you'll be screwed, if you try and tag on to other people, you'll be screwed. Put in the time and you'll get the grades and knowledge you want out of it all. I find by trying to help others and explain things I understand things more fully. In my opinion we have technologies here at Temple (Diagnodent and DentSim(<-- $70,000 waste of state and school funds in my humble opinion)) You'll go into private practice and learn to use CEREC 3D and Lasers and all inds of materials which schools can't afford and I doubt they offer cause licesure exams test if you can do things the old fashion way, so the schools need to teach that. Temple gets a bad rap. I have never left school past 6 PM. I park 1 block from the school and there is always people around......who commits a crime in broad day light or in the evening with 10-20 people in shouting distant. You'llbe fine if you keep your head on and don't act or do anything stupid. Live in Roxborough or Manayunk or the Northeast. Those are your best bets to rent.....if you are married, by a place on the main line or roxborough. It takes me 15 miniutes to drive to school and there is never traffic. I love it at school. There are tons of people who need work and entrust the students at Temple to do the work. At least you didn't look across the river at Penn 😉 j/k.....we have our lil cross town rivalry with UPenn. Ask me anything else you'd like. back to study Oral Path for the old miderm
