Temple Waitlist/Rejections

Thought I would post a new thread for all those who either did not get into temple this year or are tormented to keep waiting! 😱
Do you plan on going to another school?
Did you apply to any other schools?
Will you reapply next year?

I got my rejection letter today from Temple... Anyway, I was expecting it 😀 😀 😀

On Monday 5/9, I went to Long Island University to give my $500 deposit for tuition, got my transfer evaluation, registered for classes (18 credits - this was actually done for me by a nice lady in the pharmacy department), took care of financial aid, and submitted my dorm application.

Today, I declined my admission to Northeastern University too. The reason why I was waiting from Temple is because their tuition is really cheap 👍

Well I dont' really understand what criteria Temple is using, but it doesnt' sound fair to some of us if thay are accepting some students with 19 in PCATS and sub 3.0 gpa, there is something fishy goin on at Temple!!!! what do you think guys?

I think right now I will just go a head and finsh working on my BS which I only have a year to go and reapply for next year.

Remember that students who get in with oddball stats probably have only one deficiency in an otherwise excellent application.

HAHA one deficiency I know some students who got in that dont have one positive thing about them....and from past experiences with these students in the same class as me im more than 100% confident they wont last a year in Pharmacy school let alone a semester. I wouldn't be suprised if Temple just gave up and starting picking there students out of a hat thats the only explaination I have for some of there choices. One girl got a 19 outta 350 on her organic chemistry II midterm and was forced to drop the class what is she going to do in a Pharmacy classroom? By the way dont you get 19 points for just spelling your name right?

At this point there is nothing you can do to influence whether you'll get in or not. How you feel in the meantime is up to you. I would encourage you to be patient if you are on the wait list and not to react to the decision until it is made.

Again thanks for your two cents I was on the waitlist last year and last year I was patient. So no need for your peace of mind.

I can't even understand how someone with a sub 3.0 GPA got in as they don't even invite students for interviews with a GPA less than 3.3. Also, there are those of us on this forum that have been accepted to Temple who have worked as hard as anyone with the stats to back them. (me personally-BA in history, 3.8 GPA science, 3.5 GPA organic chemistry, 3.9 prerequisite GPA, 85% PCAT, pharmacy experience) Now I know that there are probably many applicants with similar or better stats that have been waitlisted or rejected, but to imply that Temple students have been accepted due to randomness or underhandedness and not on merit because of one or two anomalies is unfair to the rest of us. I wish you the best.

No1 is commenting on students like you...you worked your ass off and it payed off congrads blah blah.....But some of us personally know some1 who has gotten accepted that have stats that are absolutely terrible......I had a girl who sat next to me for the first 2 years in college and is the dumbest girl alive that I know has a below 3.0 GPA and she was forced to drop her organic chemistry II class because she got a 19 outta 350 on a midterm....and thats not the only class she has been forced to withdrawl from over the past 2 years, and she has to complete 5 classes (which she wont) even to step foot in the pharmacy school this fall. Comments like this are at all no way unfair to students who got accepted and deserved to get accepted, and any1 that knows there stats that well needs to get a life, I have a 3.5 GPA and theres no need to break it down into 5 different categories...( HAHA me personally I have uhhh a 3.9 in ART, a 4.0 in anthropology, a 3.4 in organic chemistry, and a 3.98720 in Race)... and that 3.5 is working 4 days a week just to put me through school and I know once I get in (which will most likely be this fall) ill be top 20 in the class next year( and I'll probably go to the bar, hangout and have a social life while your still calculating your GPA in 15 ways). So I'm speaking for everyone on here we don't need some1 who got accepted to come in here and tell us that are true stories are lies...This is what I experienced the past 2 years and I'm sharing my true story.

I know my stats that well because that is how Temple looks at them...I wasn't trying to insult you, so there is no need for you to act like a jerk. If I took your post the wrong way then I am sorry. Also knowing my own stats well is not cause for me to get a life, but spouting off someone else's may be...

Criticizing others and putting them down isn't going to change anyone's situation here. Fact is they got in, you didn't. There was something in their application that caught ADCOM's eye and something on your application that's missing or is repulsive.

Why don't ya'll call Temple and ask what was wrong w/ your app? Doesn't hurt to try.

I understand how you guys on the wailtlist/rejection list feel. I honestly question Temple's criterias of admission when I hear stories of people with horrible GPA and PCAT scores who get in, while some(and lots of them) have wayyyyy better stats. When I heard that some people from my school with very questionnable stats and no pharmacy/volunteer experience got accepted to Temple, I was absolutely shocked and started wondering what made them get in while some of my friends with 4.0 GPAs are waitlisted. Maybe they absolutely ROCKED their personal statement, interview or essay or something.

I bet a lot of you guys will get in off the waitlist. I called temple today to decline my acceptance ( i decided to go somewhere eles). They told me that I needed to send it in writing! How wierd is that? Anyway.. if they expect everyone to "send it in writing" I bet a lot of people are going to just wait the 21 days and hope they figure it out when they don't get the deposit. Out of respet for you guys, I 'll send out my decision to decline in the AM. I think that they have a poor paper-work system in the admissions office. For everyones sake, I hope that the academic departments are better organized! Best of luck to you all.

Believe it or not, it's not uncommon for admissions offices to want it in writing. When I declined my acceptance at Wilkes U. over the phone, they asked me to send it to them in a letter, saying that they require it in writing because it's not too difficult - or too out of the question - for someone to pose as another person over the phone. It also protects the person who takes the phone call in the event the person withdrawing later changes their mind and denies having phoned in their withdrawal of acceptance.

Guys, if you don't get in, see what you can do to improve your stats. Last year I applied to 2 schools (LIU and Rutgers) and got rejected from both. I asked why and LIU told me that I have to take Anatomy & Physiology. Rutgers never explained why!

I took AP I & II with Labs and Economics and applied to 4 schools. Got 2 acceptances and 2 rejections. It's not the end of the world if you don't get accepted. Also, who cares if people with lower stats get in. There is nothing you can do about it. Just worry about yourself!

I just though it was odd because no other school made me do that ever...... they told me i could fax it though... equally able to commit fraud in that format.... any one read the dilbert comic in today's paper? fax me the original, i can't accept a copy...

I was talking to Joan-Hankins today to varify that I had to take Math 77 (which turns out is the same exact course as Math 75 same book and all oddly and I still need to take it) and she asked me what my status was and I told her I was on the waiting list and then I asked her how many people were actually on the waiting list and she said as of right now 115 people because all of the decisions have yet to be even mailed out yet so the list will grow. Oddly she told me that not all of the acceptance letters have even been mailed out yet, and theres still a decent amount of people yet to be decided on. Also the rank of the waiting list wont be decided for weeks she said, I assume cause of the 21 day wait and the fact that some acceptance letters have yet to be mailed. Just thought I'd share this with everyone I feel really bad for those people who are STILL waiting.
