I heard that there weren't any current students at the Tennessee interviews today. If anyone has any questions that they didn't get a chance to ask since there weren't any students there, I just wanted to let everyone know I'd be happy to answer what I can (and I'm sure the others from UT on this forum would be happy to as well). Good luck!👍

Hi Cat,

Thanks for posting! I kinda wish there had been some students there today. Anyhoo,I'm sure this has come up, but was wondering if there was anyway for a non resident to establish residency at any point? (Besides marriage 🙂 )

That is the only way that dean Brace ever told us. He may have other insight into it but TN does not make it easy to get residency.

Sorry there were no students there today. I was supposed to go but felt terrible when I got up this morning.

Interested in hearing from folks that interviewed at UT last week, especially those that have been to multiple schools for tours and interviews.

What was your impression of UT?

PP

UT was the only school I interviewed with, so I can't directly compare it to other schools, but I can say that I was really impressed by how supportive an environment it seems to be. The students and faculty seem like genuinely nice, happy, laid back people and I was really impressed by the interest that my interviewers took in me. They all seemed to know my application when I came in the room, and one of my interviewers had made notes and highlighted things all over my application. The hospital is nice and it seems like they get a pretty decent caseload for both LA/SA, though one of the LA vets said that their caseload has been hurting a little lately due to the economy, but I imagine that's an issue everywhere. The only thing that struck me negatively at all was that some of the classrooms seem kind of dated, but as far as qualities in a vet school go, that's pretty far down on my priority list. 🙂

The classroom that everyone starts out in during Dean Brace's speech in the morning is probably the poorest of the 3 classrooms. I'm not sure why they put everyone in there instead of in one of the nicer classrooms. I'm not sure if you got to see either of the other 2 on your tour but they are much more accommodating than the first one. They all have basically the same equipment in them but the others are set up better.

Anyone heard anything yet? I know Dean Brace said he would have the letters mailed no later than Monday (so yesterday). If that actually happened, we should start hearing real soon!! :scared:

When I interviewed, he said he would be aiming for Friday (this past week), but since his daughter is having a baby that might delay him, but "no matter who has a baby, they'll definitely all be out by March 31." But I interviewed early in the week so maybe as the week went on he pushed back that deadline? Ugh, I hope not...

Ditto. Dean Brace said the same thing in our meeting prior to the tour. Does anyone know if the notification will be strictly letter or letter and email, an email, etc? The paranoia, as always, has set in . . . .🙂

In 2007, we were informed by snail mail only. I received my letter on April the 4th, and I live in Tennessee.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you (even the lurkers)! Tennessee is an awesome school!

He was at school today with his daughter and the new baby. He's usually still really good at getting things out on time and he's got a few other people that are doing all of it with him so they should be coming to you soon.

Thanks for the info! My poor mailman . . .I really think he might request a different route after this week 🙂

I'm in Georgia, and I got my letter today, so start stalking those mailmen! 😀
