Hey!

I am just about finished my personal statement and have sent out my LOR requests so my application is just about ready to submit. I have searched the forums for Canadian friendly schools and schools that have lower GPA requirements and that sort and I've compiled a tentative list of the schools I'd like to apply to and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or comments as to some more to add, or some I shouldn't bother applying to, anything of that sort.

I am a Canadian applicant, GPA of only about 3.2 SGPA lower, DAT 20/19/19, over 500hrs of shadowing and good job experience.

Tentative list:

1. Nova Southeastern University
2. Boston University Henry M Goldman School of Dental Medicine
3. University of Detroit Mercy
4. Howard University
5. University at Buffalo
6. New York University
7. Case Western Reserve University
8. The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry
9. Meharry Medical College
10. University of Southern Nevada
11. Virginia Commonwealth University

I appreciate any help or advice! Thanks so much 🙂

looks like a decent list to me

due to your GPA/DAT combo i think BU and NYU is your best shot, Howard if you are a minority

also if you are a minority i would add meherry

thanks for the input guys! im not a minority so i guess meharry and howard are out. i will also take out case. id like to apply to more schools since im aware my GPA is on the lower end. any other suggestions of school to add to my list?

im thinking of adding the following schools as well: UoP, USC, NOVA, Indiana, Maryland, Tuft,
Michigan, Creighton, Columbia, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Temple, WVU,

so new tentative list:

6. New York University
7. Temple

your #7 and #8 are the same school lol

you should also apply to the new osteopathic school in Fl... new schools tend to have lower accepting stats because ... they haven't built their reputation yet. Also consider both midwesterns .

IMO, I would take out Columbia and UoP, they have hard-ons for high DATs

Thanks so much for the help so far!

here is my new list:

1. Boston University Henry M Goldman School of Dental Medicine
2. University of Detroit Mercy
3. UoP
4. University at Buffalo
5. New York University
6. The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry (Temple)
7. USC
8. University of Southern Nevada
9. Minnesota
10. Western
11. Midwestern (AZ)
12. Midwestern (IL)
13. Indiana
14. Tuft
15. Michigan
16. Creighton
17. Columbia
18. Pennsylvania
19. Pittsburgh
20. OHSU
21. Louisville
22. Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

What I am wondering now is if any of these schools do not accept the Canadian DAT or Canadian students. Its so hard to get this info from their websites!!
