i am a bit confused ...

on test day, how exactly do you take a break? i took the tutorial and didn't understand - does a screen pop up between sections asking you if you want to pause? i guess i am confused because when i took the practice nbme forms when i'd finish one section it would just automatically go to the next section. the only way i could take a break was by pausing and exiting out of the exam.

also, if you finish a section early, does that time add to your break time, or is the maximum amount of break time 45 min (+15 min tutorial) regardless? i've heard conflicting reports.

thanks for your response!!

after you finish a block a screen is going to pop up that asks you if you want a break or not. Just click "take a break" and thats that.

Skipping the tutorial will give you 60 mins total break time. During the tutorial I was so nervous that I was afraid if I hit "end" that I would somehow not be paying attention and actually delete the 1st set of questions by mistake, so I just finished the tutorial in like 1 minute and had 58-59 minutes break instead of 60.

hahaha, sounds like something i'd do. thanks!

oh, and anyone know for sure whether if you finish a section early that gives you additional break time?

yup. basically there's a clock that counts down from 8 hours, so any time you don't spend answering questions, you have as break time.

I actually had 15-20 minutes extra break time. And I took ~25 minute lunch.
