Hey guys,

Just need final suggestions for last 2 weeks.

I took NBME 3 yesterday (i thought it was harder than NBME 5 but fairly on par with 7, 6, 11, and 12) and scored 158/200. I think it correlates with 214-220. Thoughts?

1. I have taken ALL the online NBME'S except 13. Should i take 13 or should i just take one of the older ones (1, 2, 4)? Before taking 3, i really worked on my kryptonite (test taking skills and making silly mistakes) and it clearly improved.

2. Plan is to keep doing uworld until the 6th or the 7th and reviewing FA. Then take 2 days to go through entire pathoma and then starting SEPT 9TH - 13TH, i can go through entire FA making sure everything is as fresh as possible including pathoma. Thoughts?

3. Should i do free 150 questions?

FYI , incase anyone is wondering, i am doing my 4th pass of uworld.

1st Pass during MS2. It was a waste of qbank: 55%
2nd pass timed random: 67%
3rd pass started on July 18th and finished on august 10th. timed tutor mode(highly recommend this mode). Finally learned alot: 85%
4th pass, 75% done: 92% correct so far.

Thanks in advance!

Good job on the Uworld, that's dedication. I am curious to why your NBME scores don't match up to your UWorld percentage... 92% correct overall with 75% done is crazy, I would think that you basically know most if not all concepts explained in the UWorld.

With that much concept background you should be scoring at least 250+ on the NBME I think.. I started my second pass few days ago and I am averaging ~90%, but I feel like NBME is a lot easier to do well on, questions are just not poorly worded in general on NBME...

You should really master the concepts on the things you missed on the NBME because that's what's gonna be on the actual exam. I would stop doing UWorld since it seems like you have a lot of NBME concepts you need to get familiar with if you are getting 42 wrong on NBME.

Good luck!

NBME 13 is the latest form and you should take online NBME 13, as your schedule shows you can manage time for one NBME easily. It is not that hard, at least easier than NBME 12.
Towards the end of your prep. focus on First Aid details that need cramming.
Stay positive, high in spirits and relaxed, all the best for you.

Thanks. I was also thinking about squeezing in the free 150q.. Nbme 13 this weekend.

I have heard that 13 is harder. Kinnda scared me off a bit.

13 isn't too bad...its overhyped...its about the same difficulty as 12

Im in the same position as you though...got my exam on the 13th! Planning on just going through first aid and pathoma for the rest of my time (gonna make sure i embed every single detail he said was high yield into memory)....also cts from the kaplan anat book and nbme pictures as i heard that they use the same ones on the real deal.

i think its pointless to do uworld 4 times, I'm pretty sure you've extracted everything out of it that you can get, better time would be spent with FA imo...

Kaplan anatomy book has ct's? Never knew that. Thanks for the info

I'm in the same situation Uworld score is 80 and nbme is not going above 300. don't know what i'm doing wrong. really frustrating. any suggestions wat shoud I do? doing pathoma now and after learning First Aid 3rd time will take another nbme. hopefully the Nbme score will improve.

Well you need to figure out what's wrong. I realized that I was missing a lot of questions because of stupid mistakes such as reading carelessly, blanking out, not reading the entire thing etc. I had been doing this the entire time. So I went back and looked at those questions and asked myself how can I prevent myself from making the same stupid mistake again? And I wrote down why I missed it and how can I prevent it. Then every few days I went over that sheet along with the missed questions to keep reminding myself to be more careful on those type of questions. Also I changed my approach. Now I read the last line to know what question will I be answering. Then I read the answer choices, then read the question. Then come up with the diagnosis and answer.

I have only one NBME with this new approach and since I worked on my true weakness (silly mistakes) and my score improved quite a bit. But I took the nbme offline so yea.

I did do a lot of silly mistakes, this sounds like a really good way of doing questions. I'm surely gonna try it, hopefully there willbe some improvement. I have been following ur posts and they have kept me motivated. Thank you so much for all the posts. Please do share any other ways of tackling this beast.
