I have heard that recently Step I has been asking more questions related to Cell Biology, Immuno, BioChem and whatnot. Is there a trend towards more basic sciences, cellular level questions?

There's no way to predict what will be there. Haven't heard anything about a "shift". Each test does emphasize a few subjects over others, but that distribution is random. Haven't taken it yet, but that's what I'm told by lots of people. Upvote 0 Downvote
