the question i pose to all of you is - working 40 hours a week as a med tech, taking organic I and biochem, and preparing to take the april mcat too much? i must admit that i times i feel overwhelmed and burned out.

i could always opt to take the august verision of the mcat but we all know that the earlier you apply in the cycle the better off you will be. then again since their is no rolling admission here in texas (for texas residents) just a match system; applying in august and waiting for that month's mcat score to arrive may not make that much of a difference compared to taking the mcat in april and being fully complete by june.

i know that a month can make a big difference but keep in mind that there isn't rolling admisions in texas and the schools dont start interviewing until august anyway.

i will know by the mcat registration deadline in march whether i will be ready for the april mcat. or maybe i just need the "be-a-man" talk or something. thanks. 🙂

sorry, i just noticed that i posted this in the osteo forum. surely a moderator will move it to the mcat forum.

TAKE the April MCAT!!! DO NOT wait until Aug. unless you know you will be scoring well above a 30. I have a friend who took it in April and got in the low to mid 20's and she interviewed at four schools. Another friend (both have the same GPA and about same volunteer exp.) who took it in AUg. got a score in the mid 20's and she did NOT get an interview. They both have around a 3.8 GPA. I'm not sure if the girl who took it in April will get in but at least she went out there and tried to really impress them as to my other friend she didn't even get that chance. Are you a non-traditional since you are working 40 hrs a week or is this just normal? Wow it sounds like you have a lot on your plate but you can do it!!! go for it... I know a lot of schools value the fact that you can work full time and still manage to do well in your classes. Are you wanting to go DO?

Next year the Texas schools may not do the Match. They may do it, but it seems they will be accepting students on rolling basis as well. This year they stoped the Match process for the out of state students, and it seems like they are trying to get rid of the system.

always take the april mcat. if you do well, good, if not, you always have august. and it's better to show an improving score.
