okay, I'll be the wary one and say that I'm not sure how wise it is to post this info on SDN. It's entirely possible for folks from the med schools to read this info and pass it on. While that may sound paranoid, I have my reasons for thinking this.

It's all part of the vast right wing conspiracy, plus only the student interviewers at the schools have time to read these sights. Most adcoms are to busy to eat!

uh.... yeah 🙄 🙄

I am surprised by the results of this poll so far... I thought Southwestern would be a shoo-in. What's up with the major love for San Antonio?

dude, six people voted, i woldnt call that statistically significant.

Theresa's a smart, smart girl. That's all I have to say.

Oh, and I'd be honored to be accepted to any of the Texas schools. They're all excellent. 😛

Not that the whole process has made me a happy person, but it would be very underhanded and against everything that adcoms preach about their ethics to use this board to effect their decisions. I don't see it happening. I do question the ethics of some of the schools and their personel after talking to them and being told one thing and having exactly the opposite happen. What ever happened to honesty is the best policy?

Will vote for liquor. Johnny Walker Black Label. 😉

bump, bump-bump! Throw your hands in the air, if your a true playa!

Wow, guess I'm the only one who saw all the schools and picked TTU #1. Will my other 139 classmates be unhappy with their match?🙁

Free beer for those that vote, Texas applicants only please.

Texas Tech representin'! Lubock is such a culturally rich place as well! Bump!

Why is this important to anyone? Is this just for fun or is there some kinda scheming going on I can't figure out?!😕

It's just for fun.. The way the Texas match system is done there wouldn't be much point to scheming.

Why is this of interest to you trauma???

Why are you intrested in my intrest?

I want to know if I am missing something in this fine statistical data.

Is there some kinda strategy you would use by changing your ranking?

Sorry if I seem clueless on this one...😕

I am just using it as a guide to see how many people will be ranking my favorite school #1

Well looks like TCOM is all yours so far

😛

jk

good luck man!

Which Texas school has the toughest 1st year? Maybe I'll start a new thread...

I would say Baylor because they have to cram 2 years of curriculum into 1.5 years. Plus is you get to Clinicals quicker.

Yeah...I kinda already assumed Baylor would be the toughest...any other thoughts?

I'm just happy that this pole doesn't show UTHSCSA as the #1 school. 🙂

O.K....so who has the toughest first year? I'll start from the other direction. I think that UTMB is the easiest school followed by TCOM in helping you adjust to the amount of material we will get slammed with the first semester. San Antonio has a month of clinical integration before the science courses kick in and then BOOM! UTSW eases you in to things from what I understand...
Any thoughts from y'all?

I agree pretty much. How is UTH, Tech, & A&M?

I don't know...I understand that A&M they really make an effort to take care of you and make things as comfortable and as stress free as possible on their part. Little things like irons and ironing boards at the library and stuff like that which make life while in school a little easier. The staff and facutly are very helpful and their is a family flair to the school. But I don't know how tough it is academically compared to the others. Ayone...Bueller?!

When I intervied there, that is dedinately the atmosphere they want. They have so much staff dedicated just to helping you. The LRC is the epitimy of this. Talking with the first and second years, they state that the academics are hard, especially with the new cirriculum. The third years look just like every other third year, tired. But, S&W is all about the medical student. There are very little residents and no fellows, so this means beaucau exposure and hands on experience.

That leaves UTHSCSA, TTech, and Houston to gossip about...anyone know how the students feel about their first year?

The countdown is on!!! What's it gonna be?!

What a great poll! Funny how people gravitate towards the big cities. And of course UTSW leads because of its reputation.

Yeah, UTMB first year is pretty chill. 2nd year is a bit tougher but that's just because there's a lot of crap you need to cover for the boards. The harder you work in 1st year, the easier your 2nd year will be. And the harder you work 2nd year, the better 3rd year will be. Everything is repetition here. But for the most part, it's all really chill and everyone seems very happy.

Anyhow, feel free to PM me if y'all have questions about this ghetto dump I call home.

I actually ranked UTSW second. I was put off by the general attitudes there. But I have friends there who loved it. I didn't rank the EM program really high either, primarily based on attitude again (although the faculty was really amazing and I liked them alot).

I loved my interview at UTMB. My dad graduated from there and did residency there and I think is a great MD.

We just interviewed someone from UTMB in our program and she was really cool.
