Hello. As the title suggests, I've applied to a few masters programs and some postbacc programs, most of them are out of state. I applied to UNT MedSci program but was unfortunately rejected for the 2020-2021 year. I was accepted into the MSBS at Regis University (1 yr program) and the MHS in Biomedical Sciences at Quinnipiac (2 yr program). I'm leaning towards Regis because I really like their mission and overall what the program has to offer.

Now, I have two questions.
1) Has anyone attended or know anyone who has attended the Regis U program? I would love some personal feedback about the program.
2) I want to go to medical school in Texas, my first choice is TCOM. Would it be wise of me to do a master's program outside of Texas and then apply to medical schools here afterward? Or does it not matter too much? Also, Regis U program is not connected to a medical school, so would that make it difficult for medical schools to measure the rigor of the program?

Please let me know. I need advice because I'm very confused about what to do. I'm thinking of these three paths
a. attend Regis U program and apply to medical schools in May 2021
b. not attend a program this year and instead take upper-level science classes at my undergrad university, as a postbacc student (probably 3 courses in fall and then 3 courses in the spring), then re-apply to UNT Master's program (hopefully get in w/ better GPA + MCAT) and then apply to medical school at the same time as doing the smp.
c. attend Quinnipiac program and apply to medical schools, midway thru the program, in May 2021

What do yall think?

Hey! I'm only a few minutes from TCOM. It shouldn't matter much. You'll also still have Texas residency so you will still have instate bias and at least loose ties to your SMP region

How will the OP still have instate bias?
I'm wondering because my husband has been in an OOS Masters program (*finishing slowwwly*) for about 3 years, so I'm OOS with him. I wonder how much I can stretch being OOS... I was born, raised, went to HS in TX. :pompous:
I usually go back and forth, since we rented from my parents before, but have kept away this year with all the covid business. Hmm

Super awesome about SMP OOS being okay though!!

Unless you contend your residency by showing proof of working in the other state for a year then you are automatically considered a Texas resident since you graduated high school there.

So because I haven't worked OOS, I should be okay? I am thinking to volunteer at a local clinic on the weekends. Does that negate my claims? 🙄

You could work OOS if you wanted. You will still be considered A Texas resident unless you go into your amcas application and select a different residency then you must show proof of work/bills for a year in that other state.

Wow thank you. I've been trying to figure out how to get back sooner amidst covid, I guess I can just stay put :angelic:
Do you know if an OOS license matters, if I say IS?
