Hello,

I am currently filling out the Texas Core Residency questions. I am currently stuck on the question asking:

" .When you begin the semester for which you are applying, will you have lived in Texas for the previous 12 months?"

I will be traveling a lot soon, (over 1.5 months) and I'm not sure if I should answer yes or no to this question. I will not be moving (my address will stay in Texas). The traveling is for tourist/leisure purposes. Please note that I have been a Texas resident most of my life.

Thanks
.

I would answer yes. You will not be living anywhere else and your home is still in Texas.

The answer is yes. As long as you maintain a permanent residence in Texas, you will be fine. I had to do a bit of research myself on this question because I go to college outside of Texas, and I wasn't sure if that meant I had lived outside of Texas the past 12 months. Same logic applies: my permanent address was always in Texas and the state considers that my home, rather than my dorm/apartment at school.

Hey, is the rule for residency that you must reside in Texas for 12 months prior to matriculation/semester to which you are applying OR prior to the date of application?

In other words, if I'm applying June 2010 for Aug 2011 class, do I have to have lived in Texas 12 months before June 2010 or Aug 2011? Thanks

it says the semester for which you're applying, so Aug 2011

Wait, the TMDSAS website says:
To qualify as a Texas resident, an individual must physically reside in Texas for a consecutive 12-month period AND establish a domicile in Texas for a consecutive 12-month period by the application deadline, October 1
