Hey all

So I'm reapplying through TMDSAS after submitting a (very) last minute application last year with mediocre essays, and applying through AACOMAS for the first time this cycle.

-cGPA: 3.52
-sGPA: 3.6
-MCAT: 29
-BBA degree from McCombs
-Chief Scribe/Scribe at Urgent Care and ER (full time, 2 years by the time 2017 school year will start with over 4000 hours)
-Additionally shadowed several ER doctors and different types of surgeon
-Plenty of leadership roles other than Chief Scribe (leadership positions in several jobs, officer in large pre-Med for multiple years, etc)
-40-50 hours volunteering
-Much better essays and submitted much earlier
-Some other things I'm forgetting
-Great LOEs from various professors, M.D.s and a D.O.

Applying everywhere in Texas and probably too many D.O. schools. What are my chances? What schools should I expect to be my top options (for both M.D. And D.O.)?

You are competitive for any DO school so apply to at least 8 and you should receive several interviews. UIW is a new DO school in Texas and your could consider AZCOM, ATSU-SOMA, RVUCOM (Colorado and Utah), BCOM. You may receive some Texas MD interviews but your chances for a MD acceptance are less than 50%

I do love the location of UIW but would it be a good idea to go to a first year D.O. school or should I lean towards an established one? Or does it not matter as much with D.O. Schools?

A more established school would be better since there is always a very small chance a new school may not receive final accreditation.
