I know, two threads in one day, I'm bordering on OperatingThetan territory here and hopefully not overstaying my welcome.

During yesterday's volunteer hours I spent at the hospital, one of the CphTs mentioned the angry pharmacist to me. Interested, I pulled it up ASAP and started reading the blog.

It's pretty fascinating, and the comments from RNs, MDs, Pharmacists and the list goes on in response to his posts are fabulous.

Anyone else an avid subscriber to his blog?

I read a few of the postings last year. I'll add it to my Google Reader, thanks.

edit: Nevermind, the blog is too bitchy and vulgar. That explains why I didn't save the website the first time I saw it.

I have mixed feelings about the angry pharmacist. I think some of the stuff is funny especially since I can relate to it but at the same time I think to a point it paints a pretty negative picture of the attitudes of pharmacists. I remember reading some of the stories like 'your pharmacist might actually hate you' and reading the shocked and upset responses of people who weren't in pharmacy and just stumbled into the site. And I know not all of it supposed to be taken too seriously I just don't know if its really a good thing for anyone.

I read a couple of pharmacy blogs. The Angry Pharmacist, The Angriest Pharmacist, and The Drug Monkey are the three I read a lot. Occasionally they're a bit... umm, mean. But I think it's in part a way to release stress. I've seen similar complaints on SDN. And they're usually pretty equal in who they're complaining about: patients, doctors, med students, other pharmacists...

I don't always agree with what they post. I'm a bit more liberal than The Angriest Pharmacist, for instance. But it's nice as I've been applying to pharmacy school hearing what people complain about in a pharmacy career. If I had heard what people complain about grad school while I was applying for grad school... well, let's just say I wouldn't be sitting here procrastinating from writing a paper on my research. I would have run far, far away.

TAP...he just says what everyone else is thinking.

thank you for introducing me to this. TAP is hilarious!
reminds me of the uncensored version of House MD lol

TAP and TAestP are great. I feel as if they work in the store with me. We are on the same wavelengths most of the time hah

i read his posts every now and then, sometimes they're funny and true...sometimes they're just too much.

Ha...oh, TAP.

I don't really care for his making fun of old people who can't help that their minds are not exactly sharp. But his rants about people who are just lazy... 🙄 Priceless.

It would be nice if we were all patient with older people, since hopefully most of us will be there ourselves one day. However, I know it's still hard to deal with them. It doesn't help that Medicare is so complicated and so many older people are on their own.

While patience with older people is a virtue, if complaining about them anonymously on the internet allows you to deal with them better in person... well, it's good when a person takes advantage of that sort of outlet.

It's cuz we're pharmacists, not insurance customer agents. It's the expectation that RPh's should know formulary/copays on every plan known to man that bugs...there's a phone # on the back of your card for a reason.

I had never heard of TAP until I found this post! So far, what I have read is hilarious! He DOES have a great insight into the retail portion of the industry, too!

Easily one of the best blogs ever. This guy speaks the truth 100% of the time and gives you a pretty solid idea of how life is in a retail setting.

I heard of this blog before but never remembered to check it until now...definitely hilarious

I think you may have misread my post. I understand the frustration that pharmacists should know every insurance plan under the sun in full detail and magically be able to guess which plan their patient is on.

However, someone earlier had said it's not nice of TAP to make fun of older people. I agree that it would be nice if we all had infinite patience to deal with those with less mental capacity. Since we don't, and since complaining anonymously on the internet (and reading the posts of others who are going through the same experiences) helps us hold our tongues to these people when they're our patients... well, that's a good thing.

I have worked retail pharmacy for 10 years or so, and I can relate to so much of what TAP has said in his/her posts.

One of the earlier messages on this post stated that TAP just says what a lot of people are thinking, and I am that person where I work! Of course, I have to keep my comments somewhat muted as they are not fit for public consumption, but my co-workers absolutely enjoy working with me because they know they will get a good laugh or two out of my "observations" 🙂
