I'm an MS I living way out in the suburbs, which makes my commute into school more than an hour each way. I'm trying to sell my house so I can live closer, but until that happens, I want to find a way to use the commuting time. Does anyone have any CD study aids that they like? I've only been able to find the Gold Standard USMLE CDs, which look good, but are crazy expensive. Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

One of the people in my classes lives in a different state!!! She's actually about an hour from the school. Anyways she records all her lectures on tape so she can listen to the lectures from the day before on her way to school to review and then to that day's lectures on the way home.

I've got a 45 min commute everyday. During each day I record what I think will be the toughest hr-long lecture, and listen to it for most of the way on my drive home.

Make sure you invest in a decent recorder, though... $25 ones sound like crap.

The library at my school has the Gold Standard USMLE cd's and I think that they are pretty good (although I've only used the 3 biochemistry ones). If you divide the total cost by the number of discs, you'll see that each cd is cheap. Think about how much one BRS book costs. My school is PBL so I don't have a lot of lectures, but if you do, do what the other posters said and tape those. It worked for me in undergrad when I took anatomy and physio. Or you could nap while you drive. 😴 That way you could stay up later at night and study. I'm just kidding, people honking at you would interupt your sleep and that wouldn't be good.

Aren't your lectures available on mp3???? burn it to disc!!! If not available, then take digital recorder to class and record...

Also... if your lectures ARENT available on mp3, you should give your school a kick in the a** and get them put on there... not so everyone can skip class, but because some people need to replay them for clarification or on a slower speed...
