Hi All,

I had a few questions about my current plan of action...

I want to finish my pre-reqs this summer, take biochemistry and study for my MCAT in the fall of '08 and take the MCAT in January. How long does it take to receive your MCAT score so your applications can be completed?

I want to apply for the summer term to the big 4 caribbean schools. I thnk you can begin at Ross during the summer term but not sure about the other 3. If I took the January MCAT when is the earliest I could start in the caribbean?

Also, as far as I know at each of the 4 schools you only remain on the island for the basic sciences the first two years and do 3rd and 4th year rotations at hospitals in the US? I hear that at Ross you do 16 months on Dominica and then go to Miami for one year then rotations there or elsewhere...

Is this info true? Im interested in attending my two years of basic science in the caribbean and then comin back to nyc or long island, where my home is, to finish school. ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL! THANKS!

one of my best friends is currently at Ross now..he was supposed to go Fall of 2006, but they didnt have enough room in that class so he was pushed to Spring 07..im not sure of the summer term thing, but i know you have those 2 options. As for him, hes almost done with Dominica and will be moving to Miami in April/May..and according to him, will be there for 3.5 months, and has chosen to go to NYC to finish his school bc he wants to specialize in psychiatry; but i believe you can go to different states depending on what you want to specialize..then you apply for residency after med school is over..i hope this is some helpful info

Hmmm...didnt have enough room in the class? that leads me to believe that they have a fairly high and successful admissions rate, if they were goin to accept him but just couldnt because of space constraints. You definitely need to take the basic sciences to apply though, right? Im looking to get in as soon as possible, but Im almost positive you definitely need to take the basic sciences and an MCAT...

Does anyone else know about beginning in the summer? Apparently you can definitely begin in either the fall or spring semesters but I know school runs right through the summer, and I thought I heard you can start in the summer as well...?

What happens is if you are accepted you then may have to start another semester at times, its different then the US where if no seats good luck and reapply LOL ..............................:meanie:

There are 4 schools to apply to, if early enough then you should be fine.

After finishing my pre-reqs my gpa should be around a 2.8-2.9. With a gpa like that what kind of MCAT will I need to get into someplace like Ross? I have been involved in clinical research, been published, have good LOR's, volunteer time...
