For one of the destroyer questions, which is the weakest base in water?

the answer is ClO4- , which i understand completely, it is the conj-base of a super strong acid and yeah, stable yadda yadda. but i initially wanted to put HClO4, it is such a ****ty base it is actually a strong acid-see what i am saying. but i guess it isn't actually a "base" because it is an acid.

but another question in the destroyer question goes "which gives the weakest IR signal" and the answer is trans-2-butene . which does not give any signal because it has no net dipole. but accoriding to the answering principles of the first Acid Base question, it wouldnt be the answer because it dosnt even give a signal, so how can it give the weakest? just like the strong acid isnt the weakest base, because it isn't even an effin base?

so if anyone has taken the dat (certainly not looking for specifics) and it came to something being "weakest" vs "not at all"(what im trying to describe above) what did you roll with, what would you had rolled with?

my test is tomorrow, if anyone can shed some light on this ill be so grateful. 👍👍

lol I think you are over thinking it bro... I would personally go with the "not at all"... if it has no signal, it must be pretty weak right? Just my 2 cents. I understand you must be kind of nervous since your test is tomorrow. Relax man, you will be fine. Good luck!
