Are there any examples of what these passages look like/are composed of? Any way to prep specifically for those types of passages?
I didn't get the Physics passage, but I bet people are making it worse than it is. I would guess the calculation problems there are like the one in the Thunder passage on the ADA 2009.Are there any examples of what these passages look like/are composed of? i heard piano was retired, for physics i heard the best exam is achiever test #2 where you have to do math. i did that one the night before my exam.
...there's calculation problems in the Physics passage?
Gosh! What is with the physics passage that I keep hearing about from everyone on SDN. Was it really long? Were there application questions with calculations? Did people try S&D method?
S&D method didn't work for me with Physics passage. I had a passage on the role of glutamate receptors and another one on genetic cancer.
Those are considered "Physics" passages? I'm still unclear what it refers to and how "calculations" are involved...

Sorry I wasn't clear, beside glutamate and cancer passages. I had a passage on Physics.
The feedback is there are some calculations you have to make. I assume it must present some type of formulas and then they probably throw some numbers at you in a question and expect you to calculate it.
It's probably more cryptic such as a similar problem I saw in the 2007 exam. In the passage it mentioned that x-ray intensity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source. No equations, just words. Then in the question it asked what factor is the intensity reduced when a person stands 4 meters away from the x-ray source instead of 1 meter.
It's like c'mon bro, this is reading.
Ahhhhh man. My only thoughts now about the RC section is: 'do I feel lucky?' as if I was at a casino. And I really don't feel lucky right now. I feel doomed. My gut feeling is I am going to get stuck with this physics passage. I hope I am wrong.
You ain't gonna be stuck with the physics passage. Don't worry. Even if you were, there has to be people who do well on it; so what does that say? Some people complain about the piano passage as to why the did poorly on RC, but someone has to score in the 95+ percentile on that passage. At this point just worry about what you can control. so does anyone know what the passage being referred to is? I had the DAT yesterday and had a passage with bose-einstein condensation and some conversions, could this be the physics passage everyone was concerned about? It was definitely the most difficult of the 3 passages. All I have to say is that it really was not that bad and I pretty much did s and d through the whole rc section and still had a few minutes to go over the answers.

Dude I had that passage too! Definitely took the most time to get through than the other two. It was really dense physics/chemistry material. Know your conversions well for this passage people!
