I don't know about you guys, but we really get a kick out of peoples' names at work. Almost everyday some funny name comes up, sometimes with a little imagination needed. I'll start with some recent ones:

*MOD NOTE: At the least, revealing any patient information is unprofessional, and it could be a HIPAA violation. Closing thread. -t*

I'll admit that I have laughed about name combinations now and then, but making a thread about it is pretty unprofessional. I know you meant no harm by the thread, but I think you should always consider the off chance that maybe these people could come across their names and be quite hurt. Not to mention HIPAA. Yes, nothing medically was mentioned about them, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

You're right, I believe this is a huge HIPAA violation.

how is it a HIPAA violation? we don't know what store this person works at, what company he works for, we don't even know what city he's from! for all we know, these could all be family members

Okay, well, since I am lazy and don't want to look it up, I'll give you this, not only is this topic (I believe) a HIPAA violation, it is unprofessional to make fun of people's names on here. I don't care if you think it's funny. It's probably not to those people. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think this is truly a HIPAA violation - only their names are disclosed, not which pharmacy they shop at or what meds they are on.

I will also assert that it is truly unprofessional. I've seen people written up at my workplace for making fun of others' names.

One time in the newspaper, I saw Lemonjello and his twin Orangejello. I also knew a girl named Champagne and she had a sister Bacardi. There used to be a radio guy named Dick Fitzwell (Dick was on his birth certificate).

Unique names are cool but seriously, parents need to think about how people will make fun of their kids names.
