I know there was a previous thread concerning this, but the search is down and I figure there is a new batch of you guys that have just finished 1st or 2nd years. And as an entering 1st year this will be relevant to me in a few months. So, class 👍 or 👎? Let's here it.

Edit for clarification: Trying to get opinions on how beneficial attending class is.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for here...what about the classes do you want to know?

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I mean to ask. What are current/former med students' opinions on whether or not to attend class on a regular basis during 1st and 2nd years.

If class is helpful, go.

ah, I don't think that varies much class by class...or at least there's no way to know that for your school. It depends how much you get out of class, and that depends on the class itself and whether you personally find lecture to be productive use of your time.

I'm a class person-- I can just show up and I retain a great deal of what's said. So, I went to nearly every class 1st and 2nd year. You just need to figure out what is most effective for you. Did you learn well in lecture as a ugrad? That predicts how much you'll get out of lecture in med school pretty well I feel.

I usually feel guilted into going, but thats really not the way to do it. I found that Id barely get anything out of lectures and then end up crashing earlier cuz i got tired from waking up early. So I stopped going for a while. Do what feels right. If lectures are a waste of time, then dont go. Its just like undergrad.
