The ICU BOOK - new edition?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have heard that the new edition to the ICU Book is coming out in December.

There are 3 very new ICU textbooks available:

Intensive Care Medicine - Rippe; LWW

Textbook of Critical Care - Fink; Elsevier/Saunders

Principles of Critical Care - Hall; McGraw Hill

Apparently these are more definitive texts. It sounds like December is pretty solid for the new Marini.

Word around my place is that the new Marino will be out in Oct., but thats just talk. Didn't matter for me because I needed something before then. If you can wait for the new Marino I would. While I read it occasionally I think, "Zeffer...that information is out of date." Although it is rare I think that.

As a lowly MS3 I love that book. You can get full text access for free from MerckMedicus.com. MD Consult also has it, which I suspect many places have. I converted the whole thing into Repligo format for my PDA for when I have a little reading time. I'm guessing MerckMedicus.com and MD Consult will have the new version pretty quickly after it's released.

thanks everyone. I don't get my book allowance for a few more months so I'm happy to wait.

I heard through the grapevine that Marino said that his book is so damn good, there will never be another edition. The info. will be valid for eternity. In his words, he said the following: "My book is so damn good, there will never be another edition. The info. will be valid for eternity."

Wow, that's pretty cocky, especially given how evidence-based the book is. Even if the basics don't change, I'd like to get his take on newer technologies/techniques/drugs.

It was a joke *******
