I've filled out a couple secondaries where they ask what your alternate career plans are in the event you are not accepted to any medical school.. I can think of two types of answers:
1) "I would take the next year to gain experiences/take necessary steps to make me a more informed and competitive applicant for 2008..." blah blah blah. This shows that I am persistant and that I'm sure I want to go to med school and don't have some other career on the backburner that I would almost equally satisfied with.
2) "I would move to South Africa and help develop the infrastructure necessary to educate people about and distribute AIDS drugs" (or some other ridiculous story that a pre-med would come up with) that shows that what a compassionate person I am. *that answer is obviously an exaggeration
Which of those types of answers do you think admissions committees are trying to get out of applicants? what other ways could you answer it?
