Ok I honestly think that the pple at MCW WERE EXTREMELY polite....

which schools u think were very rude? in terms of dealing with pple...

ehem people notice AMCAS is not a school...otherwise they would have been ranked #1 for congeniality 😉

I gotta agree, MCW was the most polite school I've interviewed at!

Super Nice-ness going on at that institution

Columbia has been very nice, but then they're not an AMCAS school. 😉

Pittsburgh was totally unhelpful when I was trying to see if they were considering giving me an interview and if so, whether they'd coordinate interview dates.

I think the lady who answers the phone at JHU would not win any ribbons for congeniality, although I did get her to warm up once by complaining about AMCAS. On the other hand, the young woman at OHSU was very nice and helpful about checking my file status, despite the scary screening phone message.

Can't say I've had enough dealings with most of the other schools on my list of 23 to know if they're polite or not. I like the schools that are with-it enough to have on-line status-check sites (Keck, Michigan, U. Washington, Washington U., and, yes, Pittsburgh), but not sure if that counts as politeness.

Give props to SLU and Tulane for being nice.

Jeers to Pitt, UCI, and Albert Einstein.

GW was pretty rude when I called them for a status check. Other than that everyone's been pretty nice.

I think overall I'm a little unimpressed with the schools that moan about how many files they have to wade through (USC for example), I know it's hard work, but c'mon... A) it's yer job, at least there's a paycheck at the end of the month (rather than more debt) B) that many applicants is a strong positive statement about the school, that's a good thing!

Jane at Mayo is definately the nicest. She does the phone interviews and coordinates the on-campus interviews.

I think the lady who answers the phone at Albany is the nicest sweetest person. She's funny too. I never get a chance to catch her name...

Valerie at UCSF gets my vote for sweetest on the phone...

I have to second striders' vote for Valerie at UCSF... if everyone else at UCSF is an nice as she is, I am sold! Yale gets my vote for office staff that could use some PROZAC!

For me, the award for being the nicest is a tie between Wayne and Michigan.
They've been extremely helpful, and to me, really shown that they care.
I've found the folks at MCW to be nice, but I'm still annoyed with them because they haven't reviewed my app yet even thought it's been complete since 8/20...fools!

Nicest: U Michigan, MCW, Einstein,

Worst: NYU

I personally found Pitt really nice...
I think Dartmouth has been pretty crappy to me...
I haven't had any problems with NYU, even though many people on the forum seem to think they suck. But that could be cuz I know the Dean of Admissions and don't go through the red tape when I have questions.

Ok, the nicest were U of Iowa and U of Wisconsin. The worst have been UC Irvine and Pritzker. UCI are dinguses even over email, and Pritzker people have outright lied to me.

Oh, yeah...can't forget Stanford too. They're pretty crappy as well.

Most have been good experiences. Michigan State was nice, along with Wayne State.
I talked with the secretary of CCOM on the phone also, this was the best conversation I've ever had with anyone from a med school.

IU was terrible. I was so turned off by their program that I would never consider it!!

Gotta be MCO and Case Western. very polite secretaries. Come to think of it, none of em were rude, except U Michigan.

When I applied:
SLU and Penn State were the most accomodating and polite. Tufts was good too, though not really stand out like the other two as far as the admissions offices.
Maryland, BU, and MCPHU were definitely the rudest, UM and BU over the phone and Hahnemann on interview day.

The lady who answers the phones at Jefferson sounds as if she gets one more call she'll just keel over. Despite being one ring away from death she's real sweet.

Top = Valerie at UCSF
Bottom = The perpetually annoyed whiny sounding guy at Harvard.

It's funny how different people's experiences can be. After dealing with the people at Pitt they jumped to a two-way tie with UCSF for my first choice. Valerie(I don't really remember her name but if you say its Valerie I believe you) was very nice too. UCI's admin staff was very nice to me and the whiny guy at Harvard acually calls it Haaaaaavvvaaaad.

nicest by far were pritzker and case western

the woman on the phone at pitt was apathetic and sounded almost suicidal about her job, but when i went there the rest of the people were nice

nastiest people were at hopkins(don't even like their own). I must've not talked to valerie, but whoever i did talk to at UCSF about clarification on them questioning my CA-residence was quite abrupt and rude.

stanford gets HIGH Marks from me, for RUDEST rejection letter!! 🙄

it's ur loss baby.... 😉

😀

UCSF all the way! It's funny because I was there today and really wanted to meet Valerie. Unfortunately, she was sitting in a cubical on the other side of a wall separating her from the reception area (I know this because I heard her answer several phone calls while I waiting). EVERYONE at UCSF is nice--not just Valerie! Deborah, who works at the front desk, is also very nice. Oh man, I really, really, really want to go there! 🙂

Cornell is great!

The people at the University of Iowa were definitely the best and most friendly. They even constructed and distributed little interview care-packages with stain removers, aspirin, and moist-toilettes for everyone on their interview day!

The people at Vermont are extremely friendly. Also had nice phone discussions with Penn State.

I agree with pendulum, The lady who answers the phone at albany is so nice.

Has anyone called Yale? Their status website still has no dates for any of my stuff, so I think that I have to make the dreaded phone call!
