Lot of people use kaplan notes, some take course reviews, buy lot of books and at the end everyone have their own style.
I like First aid and I think it's a good book to study and also to use an index to make sure you studied everything. I am wondering why does everyone feel the need to use multiple resources.....What's wrong in using your own notes that you took during the first 2 years and just doing questions?

There really isn't anything WRONG with that.

In fact when I first started studying I used my old Neuro and Pharm notes since I had amazing professors for those subjects.

However, the reason why people, including myself, tend to refer to outside sources is that there will likely be things that are tested on the boards that weren't taught to you in class. In fact there are also a lot of things that you may have learned in school that aren't really tested.

Some authors have done a great job of approaching and organizing a particular subject in a way that makes studying for Step 1 more efficient and effective.

For me, Goljan RR, HY Cell and Mol. Bio, and RR Biochem fall into that category.

I guess it really boils down to how high you are aiming. In my opinion it is possible to fall in the realm of SDN scores (245+) using First Aid, Questions, and class notes, however it might not be the most effective and efficient way to do so.

All in all . . . to each his own.
