If anyone has heard anything official from University of Memphis, University of Kansas or San Diego State/UCSD please post it to the other official threads--he he 😀

Lots of lurkers from comparing the "views" to "posts" counts on those other threads...

Too early yet. Soon, son. Soon.

The way these schools are making decisions are "killing" me. Or maybe, I'm too anxious. Or maybe, I need to just chill...(no news is good news, right?) No word from UT-Austin, Memphis, UM-College Park (this bothers me esp. since there had been some acceptances), or UI-Urbana. I understand for those schools who had February deadlines, but those December/January deadlines, I feel like I am stuck in pergatory!

Who's with me?!!

Has anyone applied to this school? Heard anything from them?

I thought by the first week of March we would have all our answers, especially since we have to decide by April 15th. I'd rather just know this limbo is too much! I just want to know what my choices are... I did notice there was no financial aid info with the acceptance letter does that come after you commit? My decision will be based on aid..............

According to the website, SDSU/UCSD will be notifying their decision through e-mail the second week of March...so I assume it will be Monday, March 9th at the earliest. Good luck everyone!

They will not be sending decisions until the beginning of April. This is one school I would be very disappointed if I did not get into.

Well, dang!!!

This is my hometown school. I graduated from here in speech and hearing, and for financial reasons, this would be best for me. My numbers compare well with people they accepted last year, so, fingers crossed...

I loved the faculty - very low-key, positive setting, and the new Allied Health Bldg. should be ready for this fall. Good luck - may see you there!!!

I am with you about UIUC...I haven't heard a thing! I am desperate to find out when the letter is coming. I heard that last year students heard March 7, hopefully it is sooner than later!

I'm still waiting for 9 or so schools to make their decision. Luckily, I'm set with my backup plan and associated college; because of this, I'm not really all that stressed out about it. If I am rejected from 100% of the audiology programs to which I am applying--all 15+ of them--+pity+it will only serve to make my decision that much easier. In fact, I'll just rack it up to fate; it'd be that simple...no second guessing myself. Either way, I'm resting easy. 😴

I haven't gotten "official" word from SDSU yet, but I found out I was accepted via email when I emailed the program director to set up a tour of the campus.... hoorah!

University of Arkansas is still in the process of reviewing applications, for all interested.

You have been quite the busy bee, contacting all these schools, haven't you? 😉

I, for one, appreciate it!

Yes indeed! Thank you Teucer for all that you do for this board. It has been a great resource throughout the application cycle

and the third cheer for teucer

so does anybody have a feeling yet of where they think they'll go? i know it's early since many schools still don't know their budget, and some schools still haven't responded, but there have been quite a few admissions!

Thanks Hearatic, AuD2B, Newzie52 and Isis Novak. We've come a long way since even six months ago as far as participation and thread activity goes. This place is now the "happening" venue for support and comraderie for the AuD Wannabees. :horns:

You guys might be on your own soon unless I get some favorable reviews by admissions officers in the next few weeks...

...and then there were seven! :lame:

E.T.S.U. is finishing up application reviews at this time. They have accepted 5; I was told a usual class size is around 8. Good luck!

Could anyone who's visited SDSU or who is currently a student at the school tell me more about your opinions of the audiology program?

Also, has anyone who's been admitted at UDub heard about funding yet?

Thanks!

hey cx i will be there next week, will let you know how it goes 🙂

Has anyone heard back from University of North Texas or University of Texas at Dallas?

I keep receiving emails about submitting financial aid forms from a school that I have yet to receive a response. What does this mean? Do you think it is just a random email? Am I looking too much into it?😕

The financial aid office doesn't talk to the admission faculty and all that for the most part, at least initially. I've gotten error forms from schools I've been rejected from even. Not a big deal---just deal with that when you get the acceptance letter.

They are really taking their time this year; last year people knew way earlier. I was told it was due to the new online application (I gather that there were screw-ups or complications) and the fact that they are crazy busy preparing to move into the new building.

It may well be early April before we hear; I am about to go nuts.

Update: Tomorrow is the day USA convenes to review applications. People should know before April, but call for an update if not. 👍

You really do have quite a pipeline to good info!

Thanks again, Teucer. Good luck to us both (though you are pretty much set with Arkansas...)

Yeah, I got a call for U of IA saying that CSDCAS messed up in getting my app to them on time, but that it was not my fault. So I guess this may be an indication that things did not go very smoothly. I also don't like that they have not posted any decisions on my application through CSDCAS...😡

I will reiterate: CSDCAS just plain sucks.

1. There is one woman who answers the phone over there. She hardly keeps office hours and sometimes does not return phone calls. She is not friendly (she's in Massachusetts...this is to be expected...I am from MA so I can say this) and rushes you off the telephone as fast as possible.

2. The application system is not user friendly. The system has flaws which results in skewed GPA and other such calculations. This shows especially when you've taken classes at multiple colleges and may have had certain class overlaps.

3. The application isn't really that much cheaper than if you would have applied elsewhere. The biggest boon is that you only need send one copy of transcripts and GRE scores.

4. The reason it isn't that much cheaper is the fact that not many universities are on board with the system yet. This is probably because universities know the CSDCAS system sucks, but this is just conjecture.

5. Even though CSDCAS has provisions for "school decisions", you will not see the decision posted on the CSDCAS system. When I asked the CSDCAS woman why, she said "We don't get involved with applications at all after they are mailed out from this office". Nice.

6. CSDCAS tries to mail all applications out at once, usually right at the deadline. This is poor, as it allows no time to contact universities and build a rapport with them as you get your materials together.

In sum, I hate CSDCAS. +pissed+

I do not recommend using their service. Future applicants: use a traditional direct application method unless told otherwise....one college, for instance, University of South Alabama, forced me to apply through the service. I complained about all the above listed things to USA after I did apply through their service; hopefully they will change their policy in the future.

I will reiterate: CSDCAS just plain sucks.
Am I ever in agreement on that! I thought it was supposed to streamline the process - hah! Plus, as I was only applying to the one school, it didn't save me anything. I thought it was tedious and full of possibilities to screw up - which, apparently, people did.

BTW, Teucer - if you get into the Univ of So. AL, will you choose that or Arkansas? (I can give you the total scoop on southern Alabama, being a native...)

Really what it will come down to is the pre-requisites. If I have to take a bunch more pre-reqs there, particularly anything having to do with stats, calc and chemistry, I will not go the USA route. I love the Mobile area with a passion but I will put that on hold if it is going to be too much of a pain in the ass with the mandatory undergrad credits. There will be much to do as it is without adding to the fray, so to speak.

As it stands now, I only need to take two pre-reqs with UAMS or Texas Tech, being phonetics and language acquisition. I can deal with that, especially if I can do them online.

I'm pretty far down the waitlist on my first choice, and not feeling hopeful!! Anyone care to share with me if they had a choice would you pick Texas Tech or University of Oklahoma Health Sciences for next fall?

University of South Alabama has sent out their decision letters this afternoon, after long last. Good luck to everyone.

has everyone pretty much heard from all the schools they applied to?? waitlisted or rejected?? I still haven't heard back from some schools and the deadline is approaching fast! Oh well.....😳

i got the last school's decision Tuesday that I was waiting on. But two of my schools still haven't made their financial aid decisions.

I haven't received Tech's decision yet, nor have I received South Alabama's. They should be in this week, though. Which ones are left for everyone else? I know Salus is still open but I would have assumed everyone else would have gotten their decisions by now.

The whole process is sort of skewed. ATSU made their decisions months ago. I wouldn't have even had the chance to wait for other universities if I had wanted to go to ATSU & had been accepted. You'd think there would be a more coherent process.

I just received my letter from So. Alabama, so you certainly should hear in the next day or so; just takes longer to get a letter to Alaska, I imagine!!!

I think most replies are out. The schools I contacted were more than happy to let you know if all the letters went out, some even had recorded messages when the letters went out. You can contact the CSD graduate program coordinator.

By the way I visited ISU, the faculty was friendly and knowledgeable

For all intents and purposes (save Salus University, perhaps), the 2009 application cycle has tapered to an end. Like the Alaskan king salmon run at the end of summer, the time to pack up the fishing tackle & head on home with your catch (if you were lucky enough) is here....and, just like the kings, you can only take one for keeps! Now, for those of us fortunate enough to make the decision, which one to throw back.....? 😕

I am still anxiously awaiting from the schools I applied to. For some reason I was crazy and only applied to the two schools in my area. I was unwilling to relocate when I was filling out applications. The two schools were UTD and UNT(University of North Texas) has anyone heard yet?! I know that it is already April and this makes my stomach turn into knots. Please let me know if anyone has any info on what is going on. I have no concrete back up plan as of now, only ideas because I did not want to think of the dreaded alternatice..I am starting to think I pigeon holed myself. Any insight will help.

If anything, Salus University is apparently still accepting applications right now. Good luck!

You need to call the universities to which you have applied. There is no shame in this, nor is there anything you should be afraid of by calling. You should, however, be afraid of NOT calling, as they could possibly be missing application materials, put your application in the wrong pile, etc. Believe me, I've seen it all, and this application cycle a ton of things had to be remediated in order for the process to continue. Many conversations started with a "Oh, I'm glad you called! We have (xxx) missing and need you to send it right away". One big thing was me sending transcripts from home instead of directly from the institution...if I had not called UAMS, I would not be accepted right now-- that is for certain.

Put your mind at ease and call them on Monday. There is still time to apply to Salus if you have changed your mind and accept that you will have to relocate. If you still do not wish to relocate and get denied admission, then nothing lost; either apply next time or find something else to pursue.

It is unfortunate you did not consider what your plan of action would be should you be denied admission to your schools, particularly when only applying to two...the good news is that other programs often have deadlines a bit later than the typical Au.D. class. There is not much time, but this is not to say it is too late to pursue other avenues. You'll just have to work your brain overtime to get yourself situated.
