*** The Official RUTGERS Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

good luck! I enjoyed my interview and liked what the program had to offer. Was really hard to turn down. A real clinical work school.

Enjoy and have fun with the ride!

If you don't mind telling, why did you turn it down? What made the school you are attending a better choice?

It really came down to cost. UB ended up being 50-70k cheaper. Rutgers's first year OOS cost was bit hefty and felt UB was a little bit more transparent with the layout of their charges and tution. Other than that, they both treated me excellent. It was like deciding between a steak and a salmon.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rutgers sees more patients than UB. I was really impressed with their presentation of the school and program. The day started out with me being walked into a meeting room and being introduced to a bunch of D4 students. They all seemed extremely happy to be there! While a school like columbia put us in a room with students who were just a month or two into their program. Personally, it really says a lot when you start off a day with that level of confidence. UB, Rutgers, UNC and UCONN were the only schools to have NUMEROUS D4 students for us. UNC and Rutgers had the most.

Not gonna lie, but to me there is no contest when deciding between a steak and a salmon.... Congrats though.

Got an email for the app fee this morning.

does anyone know if every applicant gets the email for the app fee? Or is it just students who they are interested in further viewing the application?

Every applicant gets the Supp

Just received supp fee this morning also. Anyone not get it?

Anyone receive anything after the request for the app fee?

The worst time of applications lol the wait is real. got only one interview so far from BU nothing except supp email from Rutgers hopefully we'll hear soon . I'm also doing the GSBS Dental scholars program starting this month just had orientation last week.

Same here I'm doing it also, apparently this is the first year there's a linkage with the ds?

Last year they gave out interviews at this time so I am checking my email nonstop. Good luck once again everyone!

Wait... Rutgers emailed you a supplemental?

Also I'm in the same boat. BU is my only interview also! I check my email constantly.... Waiting is the worst!!!

Yes I'm also confused. Did Rutgers have a supplement?

if I am not wrong they just have a supplement fee after they screen applicants

We both know your chances are great

Would they give an interview before they receive a committee letter? I had my committee interview very late and it was sent last week. How long does it take for them to get the letters or evaluation?

I wouldn't be too worried about it. I had my committee interview last week and the letter should be sent by tomorrow. A lot of colleges pre health committees are late with this
process and I think schools realize that. As long as your application has been in for a while and you have competitive stats, they should have seen your file but are just waiting for it to be "complete" before they extend an invite. Or atleast that's my mindset since my letter is so late.

If your committee letter is electronic on AADSAS, it should upload immediately when your adviser sends it. If it's by mail, it should take 2-3 weeks like a normal letter. I guess they might send you an interview without one? But they'd probably rather have a complete application.

I believe most are electronic these days. I know they are for my school.

took the DAT today. AA: 21 PAT: 21, gpa 3.45

still have hope for rutgers or no?

do you know how expensive NYU is? I might commit suicide because of the debt if I attend and I'm not even joking.
NY has more than one school... and we have 2 state schools.

sadly not, NY 🙁

You have two state schools which gives you a great shot. Also, still average stats for Rutgers so don't assume you won't get an interview. Those are the average stats for a reason, people get in with them!

WHY RUTGERS IS SO HORRIBLE??????????

I noticed while looking at the ADEA officialguide to dentalSchools applicants and enrollee numbers that for Rutgers, the ratio of in-state "number interviewed" for last year (155) to the "number accepted" (61) and the ratio of out-of-state "number interviewed" (157) and "number accepted" (30) is so high in comparison to other Dental school in the country which are usually less than 100%.

2014 Rutgers instate number interviewed / number accepted = 155/61 = 258%
2014 Rutgers instate number interviewed / number accepted = 157/30 = 523%

Most school interview/accepted ratio is around 120%.

Does this means EVEN YOU GET INTERVIEWED, YOU SILL ONLY HAS 40% CHANCE to get the admission?

This goes for every school. Not everyone who gets accepted will choose to go to Rutgers. This means that when they have seats left over after December 1st they will interview more applicants post December. However, I would guess about 50% of in-state applicants who get an interview will get an acceptance offer.

I say go for it. Just FYI, your GPA is lower than average for Rutgers. Their average science GPA is 3.5. I would assume the overall GPA would be higher like around 3.6-3.7. DAT is fine. Good luck!

Should I apply to Rutgers? I am a Texas resident. I have a 3.5 and 21aa 22 ts

I didn't apply to nova and tufts because I didn't meet the requirements. Now I am looking at more schools to add.

Rutgers does not differentiate between in state and out of state. That's what the admissions officer said in the AADSAS tour day
