Q: the phenotype ratio from a cross between the genotype: (W is dominat over B)
Ww Bb x ww Bb, would be

A: 1/2 white, 1/8 brown, 3/8 black

I worked out the genotype ratio, which is

Ww BB 2/8
Ww Bb 4/8
Ww bb 2/8

ww BB 2/8
ww Bb 4/8
ww bb 2/8

but I can't seem to translate it into 1/2 white, 1/8 brown, 3/8 black ratio. Can you help me. THANKS!

since W is dominant over B...and we are crossing Ww and ww species...The ww will only contribute a recessive allele to half of the W contributed alleles and half of the w contributed alleles Ww x ww= 1/2 Ww and 1/2 ww
...so...half of our offspring will have the dominant Ww genotype that yields a White product cuz its dominant to brown and black...
the other half (ww) can either be black or brown...you didn't indicate what the genotypes are so when i did them out i realized that...
Bb x Bb= BB:Bb:bb in a respective 1/4:2/4:1/4 genotypic ratio...and 3/4black: 1/4 brown phenotypic ratio. BUT DON"T FORGET THAT HALF OF ALL THE OFFSPRING IS WHITE...
since BB and Bb is black then 3/4 of the ww (which is half of the whole product....this gives us a 3/8 ratio for black) and in turn the 1/8 brown ratio.
gyea...
