Ok. I need a little help:

I plan to start school in the summer (at a cc) and and a year before transferring to a state school. I have always considered the pre-med route, but have just taken into account pre-pharm as well. I was talking to my friend (asian chick) and she was telling me how she was planning on taking 2 years of pre-reqs at UTA and then transferring to UH for pharmacy school without taking the PCAT. I did not really understood the process, so I questioned her further. But unfortunately, she was reluctant to asnswer me.......

How is it possible to do pre-reqs, but not take the PCAT???

Not every school requires the PCAT. Most do though. Check whatever schools you are interested in to see if they require it or not. I think pharmcas even shows wether or not the PCAT is required for the schools that use pharmcas.

How to I find that???

On the individual school's website would be a great place to look. Also I am almost sure pharmcas has it under school admission requirements or something like that.

Gosh I do hate to say this, but are you serious? Do you really not now how to browse a school's website to find their admission requirements? Common now, I bet you do.

UH requires the PCAT if I am not mistaken. However, they give preference to their pre-pharm students.

I am assuming that the UH the OP is referring to is the University of Houston since he mentioned transferring from UTA (UT-Austin).

...or UT-Arlington....

UH to me is Univ of Hawaii. UH is never University of Texas. Except maybe to Texans, and in that case, it doesn't matter.

Fortunately Delano, you'll soon be a superior Californian. 🙂
