So I was looking around...
And I realized that after going through 4 years of dental school, a lot of people will have over 300k in debt if they go to an expensive school such as NYU, Tufts, Temple, UOP, etc. And it seems like a good portion of us will be going to these dental schools, as they have more seats and they accept OOS students.
To me, that sounds absolutely ludicrous. Even medical students are not going to have this much debt.
Now, let's say the average dentist salary is going to be around 150k. The first few years out however, you might be making as low as 80-90k. (And yes, I know the salary ranges anywhere from 90k-200k)... Is dental school even worth going to unless you go to your state school? Will we be able to pay off our loans without having to live like students?
I'm thinking it might actually be better to re-apply if I don't get into my state school the first time. Sadly, even my state school will put me at 200-250k in debt.. lmao.
Anyway. Discuss.
