Since my posts have generated several emails about the program here are St. John Fisher, I thought I would make a post here specifically about our program and answer questions that have been raised.

I understand that this is the Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher College. Does the Wegmans chain have any influence over my application? If I work at Wegmans, do I have a better chance of getting in? Wegmans is a large grocery store chain headquartered in Rochester, NY. It has been selected by Fortune magazine as one of the TOP 3 employers in the country for the last 5 years. Prior to his death, Mr. Robert Wegman, donated $5 million to St. John Fisher College to build the school. Since he did not want the school named after him specifically, he asked that it carry the chain's name. We actually have no affiliation with the Wegmans company. So working for them is not an advantage to admissions.

Is it too late to apply for the fall of 2007? No it is not. Our deadline for submision of ALL materials is March 1. We have started inviing people in for interviews and that process will continue through early April.

Is the program accredited by ACPE? The school has applied for candidate status with ACPE. A team from ACPE performed a onsite visit here on November 8 and 9. They will be voting on our accreditation status in June.

How many students are in the first class? We accepted a total of 55 this year for the inaugural class. We will be accepting 60-64 for the upcoming year.

I see you have a minunum requirement of 2.75 for admission. What was the average for the first class? The average overall GPA for the inaugural class was 3.4. The average Overall PCAT score was 77%

Best wishes to each of you no matter where you apply. We hope that this information assists you in the application process. For further information, please visit: www.sjfc.edu/pharmacy or email us at [email protected].

Had a followup Question:

What percentage of your students have a Bachelors degree? Out of the first class of 55 students, 26 have a bachelors degree, one has a masters, 8 have three yeas of college and the rest two years. Based on applications to date, significantly more people with 4 year degrees have applied to date.

Is it true that you do not transfer any coursework into the School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher College that is AP Credit?

We do accept some course work via AP credits. However, any Science course (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) that requires a lab, must be obtained through an actual taken course.

Are you still scheduling interviews at St. John Fisher College?

Yes we are!

With the application deadline being March 1st, we will be having interviews through the end of March and into early April.
