So, I submitted my DO application in mid-September which is not ideal and the wait for verification is driving me crazy. Especially when so many are already getting acceptances. I've read the other threads on how schools will interview well into 2011 but still....

My question is besides looking at the secondary prompt threads and getting essays together what else can I do? I work full-time and have plenty of research to do but I can't focus and feel like I should be doing something?!

What do other people do during the wait? Do you visit schools or talk to counselors...? I mean theres really no point when they havent recieved your app yet right?

Someone please calm me down before I start calling up admissions people and asking them what good movies they've seen lately!!

BTW, I'm new so give me some time before mocking me. I'm fragile damnit! 🙂

You will be fine. Don't worry. Try to relax and enjoy your free time now because by the time the secondary applications come, you will be very very busy. And if your stats is good, then it would be fine when submitting mid-september. BTW, if you did not shadow DOs, this is the best time to look for a DO to shadow. It will help you a lot in the interview. One more thing, you can take a look on the schools' website and try to gather as much information about each school as possible. Every school is unique. Then think about what is your top choice. It will save your lot of time later.

I would make sure you have all of the essays done and your letters ready so that when you do get the secondaries you can submit them right away. Also I agree with above poster to start learning more about the individual schools. This will help you with some of your essays too because some ask why you want to go to their school.

I'm definitely glad I finally joined SDN with all of my friends already in medschool and worrying about residency and most of my family not knowing anything about the medical field I definitely need the support!

you think that wait is bad, wait till you submit your secondary, that wait is worse, and then whats worse than that is the wait after the interview!
