Oil, interview, hold, rejection...?

Let us know your experiences calling schools and asking (aka pleading) for updates. How did you ask? How did schools respond? Positive results? Not so positive? You know, fun stuff like that-because i'm sure nobody here has anything else better to do while we are all waiting so patiently for those pesky top choice schools to get back to us.

I know for a fact that PCOM can only tell you whether or not your supplemental has been recieved--they cannot tell you if it has been reviewed.

I'm pretty sure all of them are like that! I pretty much have the people's names at each admission office memorized as I call them all the time! they can just say the application is complete and is sent to be reviewed and they will contact you when it has. They have so much patience, dealing with neurotic premeds such as myself!

I always though waiting the 30 days to get your mcat score was hard, THEN my secondaries were complete and now I think waiting for an interview invite is harder! I have a feeling after the interview I'm gonna start thinking waiting for that acceptence letter / email is gonna be the hardest!

Dude, you need to simmahhh down! This process is loooong and draining enough without fixating on it every minute. You should call schools if you feel that your application is missing info or you have questions about it, but I can almost guarantee they will get annoyed if you are asking if your application has been reviewed yet on a regular basis (I wouldn't even ask once... Complete is all you need to know until they make a decision).

Just enjoy your year. Play some games, work, exercise, and read for fun, because after this year you won't have much time for any of the above, at least not without feeling guilty. Basically, just enjoy your free time. 😉

I'm of the persuasion that bugging them can be good or bad. I called Touro-NV and then 10 minutes later I got an interview. I called DMU and an hour later I got put on hold. I kept bugging KCUMB about portal issues and the person I was bugging sent me an invite. Moral of the story=bugging can be a double edged blade (for me at least)--Or strange coincidences?

What are you calling them about? Just asking what your status is?

I'm going to go with option number two. 😉

Congrats on the invites though!

I'd be too intimidated to call and bother the schools about my application status.
I recently sent in an application update to my schools and had a hard time doing that.

Everything in moderation. Would you want your friend to think you don't like him anymore becuase you do not call him? I like to call and state that I am still interested in the school and get a status update, most of the time it will just be, "you are under review, yada yada" especially after an update. You can start with, just checking to see if you have gotten my updates to my application, then proceed to check the current status, then end with restating your interest in that school. Don't do it to often, but I think it's beneficial, especially for the schools that may put you on hold.

As they say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.... but if it keeps squeaking it gets replaced. lol
