After reading the threads of those applicants who were accepted soon after their interview, it seems that they were accepted about 2-3 weeks after their interview. Is is safe to say that if you were not accepted within that time span, that either you will be place don a waitlist (which they may not even let you know about) or you will be getting a pink slip in the mail?

I think it really depends on the school. At my interview this past weekend, the school's Director of Admissions told us not to worry if, after three weeks, we still hadn't heard back from them.

I am not surprised that they tell you not to worry if you have not heard from them. I think what he should have said was that they do not worry if they do not tell you in 2-3 weeks. I was told at one school that I would hear in about 2 weeks after the interview. Now it is over two months later and still nothing...

Reading all the threads, I have to agree with you about the two week's rule. If they like you, you will get an acceptance letter within 2-3 weeks. If you don't get anything, I guess you are in trouble just like me. 🙂

I don't think that is a good rule to go by if you interviewed early on. I had 2 interviews in October and I am still being considered at both of those schools and one in December where they told us we should hear something in March.
It might be good rule to go by if you are interviewing like now or next month though.

I interviewed with Iowa in Nov, and got accepted a couple weeks ago. Don't give up hope, there is still plenty of time

I guess if they told you at the time of the interview when you would hear from them, then it is probably true. However, if they told you something else or did not tell you at all, I would be more pessimistic.

Don't Worry...I think it depends on the dates in which the borad members meet to discuss applicants. Some schools may meet only once a month...some every two weeks....etc. hope this helps. =)

And sometimes when they meet they don't even discuss everyone. But yes, some do go on a "maybe" list.

It would be very courteous of them to let the applicant know that at least their application (and interview if done) was already discussed. Not letting us know our status what almost seems an indefinite time seems somewhat cruel.

yeah i'm in the same boat as you...hang in there

i think it is a 2 month rule....normally

only exceptional people get the 2 week rule
