The biggest part of my app that I am concerned about is that I made two D's in my freshman year (bio 2 and chem 2). Since then I have never made anything lower than a 3.6 but still, yikes!!

GPA: 3.49
sGPA: 3.31
DAT: 20 AA (24BIO, 22PAT, 16QR, 19GC)
40 shadowing (plan to get to at least 75)
160 volunteer hours
TX resident

I plan to apply to all three TX schools. Do you think I will be okay doing this or should I apply out of state? These are my potential OOS: New England, Boston, Tufts, Missouri, Nevada, Arizona, Pacific, Western, Lake Erie Florida, Midwestern, Kentucky. Are there any I should add/remove?

Please let me know any suggestions for how to improve my app!! Thank you!!

Heyyy nice to see you here! Wow that Bio score though! Maybe you should add NYU and Roseman? It's worth it to shell out a little bit of app money if it gets you in this year. Up your shadowing hours and honestly you're not too bad. That QR is kinda low but from what I heard it's the least important. After your bad freshman year, you have much more consistency than I do. I've been bopping around from 3.05-3.4ish the first two years but finally got my ass in gear with a 3.8 this most recent fall. Got 3 C+s unfortunately but no Fs or Ds. Just an abundance of Bs and B+s mixed in with some A-s and As. Is your TS like 22 or so? I think the upward trend and the overall numbers you have aren't too bad at all. If you think you can write a good personal statement and get some solid rec letters you have a shot.

Isn't that so weird! I thought the same thing... I am planning on submitting two prof, one dentist and my boss for rec letters! My boss and dentist letters will be good. The others Im not sure.

I think you have a good shot at Texas schools with your stats. Apply OOS to be safe but you should get in somewhere.

Dat about the same and GPA slightly higher. What's your RC score? I think Houston values RC a lot. And really all they want with shadowing is how you reflect on your experience, and that should show through your essay. If you make them believe this is your passion and your calling (as cheesy as that sounds), 100 shadowing hours at the time of application isn't really necessary. They just wanna see it over time so plan to do more after you submit your application so you have fresh material by the time your interview comes.

at least that's what I did and I think it was a good talking point with some interviewers
