The update letter that isn't really an update?

So, there are some schools that haven't said a peep to me since I submitted a secondary. Needless to say, I want interviews from them.

However, I don't really have anything to 'update' them on.... my grades were bleh last semester, and I've been doing the same EC's that are already on my AMCAS application (and no major events have happened in them).

So is it acceptable to send a letter saying hey I love your school I'm very interested and I haven't committed to any schools yet? Would it be too much to throw in 'I would like an interview?'

Sure it's acceptable (if not specifically forbidden to submit supplemental materials), but I'd be sure to include additional accumulated hours in any pertinent ECs. No need to mention the grades.

Good point. I can say that i have added hours to volunteering and such...
