I speculate by purchasing call or put options the day before a company's earnings call.

I'm sick of it. I can't stop checking my email and coming on sdn. What else do people do besides those things. help!

Sometimes I check my status page at the schools I haven't heard from yet. I'd check my mail more often if my mailman didn't suck (maybe my neighbors know whether or not I have more interviews, more likely people on the other side of town).

I am at the point where I don't even care if its a rejection, I just want to hear one way or another and have this process over with.

I feel your pain. All the info I get back comes in waves. I get a bunch of emails and letters one day followed by nothing for the next week and a half (I cant even stop checking my email on sundays). All I want is my first acceptance so I can sleep again.

Sometimes emails can come on Sunday as well ... I remember my UCSF secondary came on Sunday's afternoon .. so we should keep checking everyday, and keep hope alive =)

One of my interview invites came at 10 pm on a Saturday night.... So now instead of checking my e-mail every 5 minutes on weekdays, I now check it compulsively on weekends as well. I'm surprised I haven't been diagnosed with OCD

I banned myself from SDN last week because it was making me completely neurotic. Obviously, it hasn't worked. As an August MCAT-er, I wasn't expecting to hear anything until late november or so. I figured 6 weeks for processing once they got my scores. So I was chilling. That is... until i logged onto SDN and found out that everyone ELSE from the august MCAT was already getting interviews. Like everyone here, I now check my email neurotically, and I run to get the snail mail everyday. I've grown a monster zit on my forehead in response to all this. I've named it Jose. I take good care of him every morning, washing him lovingly with salicylic acid.

This can't possibly be a healthy way to live.

I have perfected the art of being obsessive. But I guess as long as your not checking your house mail on sundays your OK.

yeah, I've felt like this somedays... maybe too many days...

and yeah, i've gotten invites on weekends as well... makes me wonder if the adcoms work weekends?

The worst part of this whole thing is that friends, family, and significant others literally think that you've gone crazy....and they don't understand the roller coaster of emotions. I can't stand the reply, "You're a great applicant. You have nothing to worry about, so stop stressing." Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....what they don't realize is that EVERYONE is a good applicant!

Exactly... family/friends was saying the same thing to me, all the way up to April when I finally got admitted. If they only could comprehend that April is not an early date of admission.

Glad it's over though. I got pretty wasted that night in April. It was beautiful.

omg. AsianDoc. I LOVE your avatar 😍 Wishbear rocks 😍

Whenever I get an interview invite, my family asks, "so when are you going to hear from Hopkins?" 😡 They don't get that I'm competing with some amazing people and not all 44,000 applicants are going to get an interview at Hopkins.... And they're not particulary suppportive or happy for me about receiving other interviews... Families are annoying sometimes 🙄

Do any of you know how long it takes med schools to process/screen your application? I applied really late in the game because I didn't recieve my MCAT until Oct. 12th. I got a 37Q and my grades are decent (3.5--not at a state school), so everyone tells me that I have little reason to worry, but I have trouble believing them. I sent my AMCAS to seven schools (UCSF, UASOM Harvard, Vandy, Duke, Baylor, and USACOM), but only Harvard and Baylor have replied. I definitely check my email and mailbox daily, but usually in vain. Am I totally screwed because I'm so late?
