Hi. I was wondering how long it takes to hear back from PT schools for interviews. It's been a week since the schools have informed me that they are reviewing my application, but I am getting a little worried since I haven't heard anything. Should I worry, or does it take awhile for them to decide who to invite for interviews? Thanks

It depends on the school/start date. I've heard that certain rolling admissions programs have already been inviting for interviews for programs that start in January. Otherwise, for the schools that start from May-August, you'll usually hear back around November/December.

Which schools specifically are you talking about?

5 weeks ago I received an email from one of the schools I applied to. They informed me that they would review my application and then decide. Decisions include: invitation to an interview, denied admission, hold for grades, or waitlist for an interview. Yesterday, they emailed me inviting me for an interview.

I think it totally depends on the school! I had one program offer me an interview literally the day after I submitted my application and then others who said they don’t even start reviewing applications until September/October. So I wouldn’t stress too much that you haven’t heard yet!

I applied to the University of North Georgia, Augusta University, and Georgia Southern's Armstrong campus. They're all local since I want the in-state tuition.

If you really want to know, you can try a few things:
- Find past threads on SDN about people receiving their acceptances to the schools you applied to. They will often say when they got their offer or post around the time they got the news.
- Attend Zoom info sessions for your desired grad programs and ask them when applicants can expect to hear of a decision.
- Just ask grad admissions through email/phone call. This might even help with your chance of admission if you reach out to them.

Not everyone will get a decision at the same time obviously. Many schools take months to fill up their cohort, sending each month to waves of applicants until they fill up their class. Some wait till a certain date/month to start giving out acceptances while others take rolling admissions literally and offer a spot a few days after someone submits their app. If you end up getting waitlisted, stay hopeful since more competitive people may turn down their acceptances.

Hi I applied to about 15 schools last cycle didn't hear about interview invites till starting October! Got 6 interview invites.. 6 wait listed.. the sitting around waiting is a killer!! But not till February did the acceptance start coming in! Got accepted into 5 schools after March! The school I ended up choosing didn't get back to till less then 3 weeks from the start date! So don't stress have patience its a long process..BTW in May I started my DPT and I'm so happy with my choice! Good luck every one!

Do you mind sharing your stats and which schools you applied to? I applied to roughly the same amount of schools and I'm scared I won't get accepted anywhere!

why not Georgia State?
I felt like the school was really competitive since it's one of the top 3 programs in GA. Also, I felt like my application wasn't the strongest since I wasn't able to get that many observational settings in due to COVID. I decided to apply a little late, and had a few months to do internships, but then COVID messed up my plans. 🙁
