I am posting because a friend of mine did not match into dermatology.
She has no research in radiation oncology, but decent scores.
Would she be able to scramble into one of these open 12 spots?
I am just trying to help her out and get a sense of what
she can scramble into, because there is only one open derm spot.
She does not want to take a year off.

I'm going to guess (assuming your friend's number of 12 is correct) that this includes programs who were wishing to expand and likely just found out that they were approved for additional spots. Thus, it would show as "unfilled," but many programs may not have been including these numbers in the match. But I guess we'll see.. At any rate, twelve is a freaking ton! Best of luck to scramblers. ND.

Anyone have a list of programs available for scramble. I didn't enter the match, so wanted to see if I could find one now.

Thanks

I'm not positive, but you better make sure it is not a match violation to list unfilled programs. Just a heads up 😎

Btw, your friend most might not have a good shot b/c there will be lots of ppl who did not match for Rad Onc vying for those open spots and since she was focused on derm they may really question why she wants to do Rad Onc (hint: they'll think its b/c of lifestyle).

the number comes from the NRMP report that is available to everybody who submitted a rank list. it had 12 listed next to rad onc for unfilled spots.

It may be programs who didn't update their final number of spots for this year and/or programs who aren't participating this year but forgot to notify the NRMP.
