I took step 2 yesterday and I'm pretty sure I bombed it.. I'm the type of person whos pretty good at knowing if I did well or not (I felt like I did well on Step 1 and did). There were a ton of qs that I had no idea what to do with and ended up guessing cause I was running out of time.

Now my predicament is.. is there anyway for me to hide my step 2 score? I realize that taking it late would've allowed me to not release it but is there anyway for me to do that at this point?

when you apply using ERAS, you will be asked to release your boards scores or not. The programs will not see your board scores until you release them and many programs have gotten in the habit of not interviewing applicants until it is proven that the applicant passed step II.

When you do select to release your scores, all of the board scores will be sent. So in essence, I doubt that you can "hide" any scores.

Wait until you get your score and take it from there. One step at a time.

In *no way* am I attacking you. Do you mind given an honest estimate of how much you prepared for Step 2? Ie, did you study your butt off and still feel like this, or did you just wing it?

Thx for the replies guys... I studied for about 4 weeks.. I'd say I studied realistically about 6-8 hours.. I got through all of UWorld with a 67%.. 228 on NBME 4 and 240 on the UWorld Assessment. When I did the assessments I felt like I did okay.. never have I felt so bad after an exam. I realistically had at least 5-10 qs per block where I had no idea and just put anything in the interest of time :scared:

I guarantee you got a 230+

Very similar situation here. Scored well on step 1, but thought I'd go ahead and take CK early since medicine was my last rotation of the year, and I had been using UWorld for about 4 months for various rotations.

Studied for 3 weeks. Got one pass through UWorld - 68%, NBME 4 -232. Took the real thing today and felt like crap walking out. After Step 1, I didn't feel like there were any real surprises - stuff I didn't know/remember, but nothing I hadn't seen before. This exam, there were things completely out of left field, and some were so vague, I was never completely sure about things I probably did know.

Don't have much to add, but you're definitely not alone in your experience. Wishing you the best of luck as well.

I think a very large number of people have this experience. If you go through the other experience threads, you'll see people getting ~250s/260s on their NBMEs and then complaining about how vague the real thing was. Since it is a common theme among test-takers of all calibers, and the avg scores are still higher than those of Step 1, I think you guys can rest assured that you did OK.
