visited the health committee at my school to update them with my DAT scores and they werent too impressed. She recommended i retake in SEPTEMBER while still applying for the 2012 cycle. My app is basically in and im just awaiting interviews now but, i sold most of my books and just really had the darn test out of the way ( in my head atleast). Unfortunately im starting to consider taking it again and i just need advice. I applied to over 10 schools including NYU, BUFFALO, TUFTS, TEMPLE, INDIANA etc....

My grades were

TS 20
AA 19
PAT 18
GC 21
OC 21
RC 18
QR 18

Not the most competitive or impressive although i hear its the average for matriculation. MY gpa is 3.5 and sci gpa around 3.1 or so.

I guess im relying on the opinions on this board whether to retake. I really didnt want to study for this test again but i might just have to.

Your DAT is fine. This is why I never go to my advisor, they don't know anything.

The only thing is though, your overall gpa is ok, but science is low. But dat is pretty solid imo.

I would apply to at least 15+ schools though, 20 would be best.

No problem with those scores. If I was sitting in your position the only thing i would be looking at is the lower overall science GPA. I would look into applying to schools with a slightly lower mean science GPA.

I agree that you dont need to retake the DAT. I would only think about it if you didn't get in this cycle, but the larger problem is the sci GPA. IMO you will get interviews and have a shot at acceptances ( my opinion really doenst count for much though)

Just make sure that you update your prehealth advisor when you get in so they doesnt pass on more bad advice.
